Nothing pleases me more than getting extremely creative students.
During our last leg of the course, our students get their hands “dirty” during the Creative Makeup Week. They work with glitter, metallic paints, latex, fake blood, wax, and everything that as to do with Special Effects makeup. In a way, it’s like Halloween all year round in the institute. hahahaha!
Our International Platinum Course is a Fashion Makeup Course as we work closely with Our Sister company YH Studios DXB who is a Global Award Winning studio. All in all our students are privileged enough to work with the photographers every day. all their models are shot in the studio after makeup. This teaches the students how to become a “REAL” Makeup artist. By this I mean they learn the etiquette of being a makeup artist.
They just don’t learn how to apply makeup but learn how to act in a real shoot & need to understand when it is the right time to correct any makeup or do touch ups. Also understand that its a joint effort in making perfect pictures.
The relationship between Makeup Artist and Photographer is very important. This can be the essence of creating the perfect look. Atmosphere and ambiance really shows in the final image.

This took place @ V11 last week.
SORAYA B. COUTURE AND VAROIN MARWAH AW 2018 FASHION SHOW
Last Friday, June 22 2018, we were able to collaborate with a couple of wonderful designers, SORAYA B. COUTURE and VAROIN MARWAH at VII DUBAI in Conrad Hotel. In cooperation with Fashion TV, our students from the Lipstick Makeup Institute created the looks for the models before they marched their way into the runway. The beautiful models came out with a mixture of blinding gold highlights and fuschia pink cheeks Avant Garde looks.

With the guidance of one of our teachers and the coordinator, the students were challenged to finish their makeup look within 10-15 mins per model in their first ever fashion show.

It was a jam-packed show. The models adorning the designs by Soraya and Varoin gleamed on the cat-walk.

They owned it as they felt so confident in their attire. Shining bright with Soraya’s gowns and make up that gave them confidence to hold their heads up high.
The students are in their last week of training. 6 weeks of intensive training. They started with not much knowledge and now they are leaving with so much that they are bursting at the seams.
They are ready to tackle the outside world and start using all that have learnt along the way.

hmm love to be her/him one day.I bet you have as I have in the past. I have imagined working with famous celebrities and traveling around the world doing what I love, while getting paid for it.
So I took the chance, flew to Dubai and the rest was history.

Now we will talk about the experience of one of our students here who took The Platinum Makeup Course at The Lipstick Make UpInstitute who graduated last December 2016.
Javaria flew all over from Pakistan to enrol in our Institute. She started with zero knowledge in makeup.
At first she doesn’t know how to differentiate the difference between the shade of the foundation, what is the best suits the skin tone of one person. This is the most important step when applying make up.
All in all, the word itself, “foundation” really says it all. Like when building a house, if you have a good foundation then you can build on it successfully. Another simile is like a relationship. Start with a good foundation then this can be built on an and an amazing relationship can grow.
How we started
We started to show her the tools, different kinds of brushes. Then followed by the step by step on how to apply makeup starting from cleaning, toning and moisturising.
However. skin tone of a person is not easy for a beginner but if you have a passion and interest to learn it will come easy to determine just like what Javaria did.
She listens and observed very well to her teacher to achieve this kind of makeup for her models. Slowly day by day by doing makeup to her models she achieved different kinds of look from day time look to evening and glamorous look. And also the creative look which they enjoyed to do so much.

Im British from the UK, I have lived in Dubai for 4 years.
I have a huge passion for make up. I previously worked for Mac Cosmetics in Dubai & London Harrods, which was what influenced me to become a makeup educator.

Being backstage at a fashion show is so much more than just being a MakeUp artist. You are part of a family to get the show on the road. The trick is to all stick together, work with confidence, keep alert and of course ALWAYS smile and never loose focus. Its important to be on the ball as fashion shows can be a crazy rush backstage.
When it comes to fashion shows, they key thing to remember is timing is everything. As beautiful and stunning fashion shows are from the front row, its not all glitz and glamour backstage. Backstage is where the months of hard work comes to life in a matter of hours. However, the rush is additive and the achievement you feel once the show has finished lasts for days.

This amazing experience gave our fantastic Lipstick Make Up Institute team to express their artistry in more ways than one. Each day kept us all on our toes, we all loved it and left us craving for more. We got to work with fashion designers from around the world which we can all defiantly say this is a “pinch-me” moment. You might be there to do MakeUp but do not be surprised if you get pulled by someone to help dress a model, tidy a models hair or even to maybe run and get some water and food for everyone.

Working in a fashion show keeps you up to date with the latest beauty trends and whats the hottest new looks. You could be the most experience MakeUp artist but you will always learn new tricks backstage that you can bring home, this will make you very popular with your girlfriends.
Arab Fashion Week was held between 5 days. We will take you through each day with all the looks changes and show you some fantastic pictures we managed to get in whist our team worked their magic.

Your setup reflects you. Make sure that your makeup products and brushes are always clean and well organised.
We took our students to experience the working on a location and in front of camera feeling of the Mothers Day makeup filming .
Our students were responsible for a nice flawless and fresh makeup on these lovely ladies.

The task was easy. The mothers got few questions to answer while our students are pampering them and making sure they look lovely and perfectly made up. In this case the perfectly made up means not over the top, nothing glamorous but just a touch of makeup what will make the face fresh, the skin flawless.
The less is always more. This is the most important to memorise!
Always work with the face and the features. Don’t try to apply the same makeup style on every single face.
We are all unique, we all have a different personality also different needs when it comes to makeup. What will suit to me won’t suit you and to some other person.
Our students are trained in that way to recognise the needs of different faces and features. Makeup is used to enhance the beauty and correct the small imperfections not to make you look like a different person.
Todays makeup look was a Mothers Day makeup. Why is it different than the other makeup looks?
Its very light as a base. On the eyes we were using beige, browns with a touch of highlight. Mascara of course is a must. On the cheeks we added a touch of peach-orange colour to give a refreshing effect for the face as some of our ladies didn’t sleep much. On the lips a transparent lipgloss.

It was fun. We heard loads of stories about the funniest stories about their kids, the most important words they love to hear from their kids, and the everyday with 2 or 3 kids in the house.
All these lovely ladies deserve loads of attention, love and pampering… not only when its Mothers Day… but every day!!
