SPECIAL EFFECTS MAKEUP

 SPECIAL EFFECTS MAKEUP

THEORY AND PICTURES

Prosthetic makeup (also called Special make-up effects and FX prosthesis) is the process of using prosthetic sculpting, moulding and casting techniques to create advanced cosmetic effects.

Prosthetic makeup revolutionise by John Chambers in such lms as Planet of the Apes and Dick Smith in Little Big Man.

TECHNIQUE

The process of creating a prosthetic appliance begins with life casting, the process of taking a mould of a body part (often the face) to use as a base for sculpting the prosthetic.

Life cast moulds made from prosthetic alginate or more recently, from skin-safe silicone rubber.

This initial mould is relatively weak and exible. A hard mother mould typically made by plaster or breglass bandages is creating overtop the initial mould to provide support.

Once a negative mould has been create, it is promptly led with gypsum cement, most commonly a brand called “Ultracal-30”, to make a “positive” mould. The form of prosthetic sculpted in clay on top of the positive.

The edges of the clay should made thin as possible, for the clay is stand-in for what will eventually prosthetic piece.

Along the edges of mould,

“keys” or mould points sculpted or carved into the life cast, make sure the two pieces of the mould will together correctly.

Once sculpting is complete, a second mould made

This gives two or more pieces of a mould a positive of the face,

and one or more negative mould pieces of the face with prosthetic sculpted in.

All clay carefully remove and prosthetic material cast into mould cavity.

The prosthetic material can be foam latex, gelatine, silicone or other similar materials. The prosthetic is cure within two part mould creating beginning of a makeup effect.

One of the hardest parts of prosthetic make-up is keeping the edges as thin as possible. They should be tissue thin so they are easy to blend and cover giving a flawless look.

The use of prosthetic makeup create wounds or trauma is called moulage.

its is used by the military and medical schools to educate and lessen psychological trauma when exposed to the real thing.

All too often makeup artists neglect hands even when they will be part of a shot. Men frequently have red knuckles. Older people have age spots. Cuts and scars are common.

Apply makeup to the hands in exactly the same basic way you apply it to the face. Use concealer to hide blemishes and a light touch of foundation what perfectly matches the skin colour.

Blend very well. If your subject is a man wearing a suit and shirt, apply makeup around the cuff. Of course, don’t get yellow makeup on a white shirt! Place tissues in the cuffs to avoid the risk.Body Makeup Lipstick Makeup Institute

If your subject is a woman, check the nail polish.Ensure that is properly applied.

In some photo shoots, your subject will be revealing more than face and hands. Legs, knees, arms and who knows what else may be photographed. You will encounter challenges.

For example, knees may be darker than the surrounding skin. Shaved areas such as those under the arms may be lighter. “Bikini lines” may show up where areas of skin that have been exposed to the sun meet those that have been covered by clothing.

Body makeup which is more heavily pigmented than face makeup

its typically water and sweat resistant, can work well in these circumstances.

Generally you will want to match the natural skin tone

The No Makeup Makeup Look

The No Makeup Makeup Look

The no makeup makeup look feels like the easiest look to achieve. As we all want to achieve this look, it’s always harder than we think. This look is perfect for summer vacations, days at the beach or when you want to fake the I woke up fresh vibes. Here’s a guide to achieve a flawless no makeup makeup look.

Step 1: Prep your skin by cleansing your face, toner, moisturiser preferably SPF, finally apply your primer.

Step 2: Foundation application is optional. Some people like to skip foundation with this look, while others opt for a lighter or a dewy foundation.

Step 3: Conceal as needed. Just like foundation, concealer isn’t always needed for this look. You can apply concealer in a small amount for the purpose of a brighter effect.

Step 4: Glow with an illuminator. Time to add some shimmer, preferably a cream shimmer. It is totally your option to go with a traditional highlighter. Illuminator gives a subtle lit from within the glow on the whole face. You can apply this creamy illuminator on the whole face and even the body, preferably in a rose gold shade.

Step 5: Eye makeup. For a pretty natural makeup look, choose a cream shadow. Cream shadows are easy to use, just swipe and blend. A rule for creamy eyeshadow, those with oily skin need to use eyeshadow primer for long lasting. Choose a shade that works well with your skin tone, and gives a natural sun kissed look.

Step 6: Blush everywhere. Just like eyeshadow, try using cream blush unless you have an oily skin. Cream blush will diffuse and blend into your skin with a more natural look than a traditional powder well. You can always substitute the cream blush with a cream bronzer.

Step 7: Embrace your natural brows. Less is more when it comes to clean, groomed brows, which is what you want for the no makeup makeup look. Using a brow gel is as easy as it gets. Fill in your brows if needed in a soft technique.

Step 8: Define with mascara. Mascara is the finishing touch to make eyes pop in just the right way.

Step 9: Spritz and Mist. Voila, you’ve created your ultra pretty no makeup makeup look just like a pro.
