Hi Guys I’m Chaliya the new head makeup artist here at The Lipstick Makeup Institute.

Im British from the UK, I have lived in Dubai for 4 years.

I have a huge passion for make up. I previously worked for Mac Cosmetics in Dubai & London Harrods, which was what influenced me to become a makeup educator.

I love being able to pass on my knowledge of makeup to the students & watch them develop into great makeup artists.

I am teaching master classes with the students, where they get to learn all aspects of makeup from beauty to special effects. This is when they can really show their talents. Their imaginations can run wild.

My 1st out of studio shoot was an amazing experience. In an amazing location in City Walk Dubai.

Laila Khan is originally Moroccan living in Dubai.

Her main aim was to study makeup as she is opening a Spa and Beauty Salon in India.

I would definitely suggest this to any salon owners to learn more about the services so they will be more into the whole business.

This is a wonderful thing to do. As an owner you definitely want to know what are your employees doing and also to get more knowledge about the services you are offering.

Laila was a very talented, patient and wanted to learn as much she could for these 5 days.

It was really a pleasure to work with her.

Our focus was on glamorous looks and asian bridal makeup looks. Bright and shiny colours, beautifully blended aye makeups and perfectly applied foundation were the main characteristics of her portfolio work.

As you will see on the pictures of her portfolio we really created a great asian glamour look feeling an all the pictures.

She finished her 5 days course with an excellent grade and wonderful exam work.

Smokey Eyes

Smokey Eyes

Smokey Eyes Look Is a perfect makeup look for photo shoots, high fashion looks and for fashion shows. Basically its a simple full smokey look on the top with a transparent lip gloss. The steps of application are the same as the classical one. We need to make sure that the base (eye shadow) is strong ( 2 layers and blended).

Finish the whole makeup and exactly before the photo shooting or stage apply the lip gloss in one thick layer, carefully not to mess up the eye shadows and blending.

Smokey Eyes Application

Apply a transparent (clear) lip gloss on the top of eye shadows, especially on the centre of the lid (moving area of the eye) with a flat eye shadow brush. If you want to create a full wet look on the face you can apply the lip gloss on the high point of the face (top of cheekbones, bridge of the nose, chin, centre of the forehead). The look is ready for the shooting or for the stage. This look is not an everyday makeup.

Smokey Look

The smokey is for fashion shoes or photo shoots. The eye makeup will be spoiled by the lip gloss so make sure that you are in time and quick. The other two ways of creating a wet look is with Vaseline and the 8 hours cream.

I attended the three days Dubai zombie challenge that took place in wonderland, Dubai from 7^th till 9^th of April 2016

The event was organised and supervised by the famous French Le Manoir de Paris, they are specialised in makeup and special effects.

There were 2 amazing ladies Laura and Dalila they were responsible for the clients that wants to change into zombies, they took good care of them with smiles and love from the entrance till the makeup room, and they also were supervising the whole event.

wearing the right colour of the foundation

The most common problem that all of us struggling from to find the right colour of the foundation we are wearing.

When you go to the makeup store forget about trying the foundation on your hands. The reason is:

is not the same colour like your face
the skin on our face is more sensitive
the skin on your face is a different skin type than your hands so of course you have to find the matching foundation to your skin type.

The process of trying and finding the right colour is very simple. Pick up 3 colours which are very similar to your skin colour and try them on your face near to the jawline area. The colour what blends in completely to your skin and not visible that is your foundation colour.

Tip of the day: When applying foundation, apply it little by little build up your foundation. In this case you will get a perfect coverage and will look natural not caked up and a mask effect on a face.

Smokey eyes and red lips??? 10 years ago we would say oh no, you can’t have Smokey eyes with Red lips on. There was a rule before in makeup that if you are working with dark colours on your eyes the lips will be light and if you have a bold lipstick on you will go light with eyes.

Ladies we can tell you its not the case anymore. One of the main style of the glamorous makeup is strong eyes and strong lips. If you know how to wear it and its clean and well blended just go for it.
