Now we will talk about the experience of one of our students here who took The Platinum Makeup Course at The Lipstick Make Up Institute who graduated last December 2016.

Javaria flew all over from Pakistan to enrol in our Institute. She started with zero knowledge in makeup.

At first she doesn’t know how to differentiate the difference between the shade of the foundation, what is the best suits the skin tone of one person. This is the most important step when applying make up.

All in all, the word itself, “foundation” really says it all. Like when building a house, if you have a good foundation then you can build on it successfully. Another simile is like a relationship. Start with a good foundation then this can be built on an and an amazing relationship can grow.

How we started

We started to show her the tools, different kinds of brushes. Then followed by the step by step on how to apply makeup starting from cleaning, toning and moisturising.

However. skin tone of a person is not easy for a beginner but if you have a passion and interest to learn it will come easy to determine just like what Javaria did.

She listens and observed very well to her teacher to achieve this kind of makeup for her models. Slowly day by day by doing makeup to her models she achieved different kinds of look from day time look to evening and glamorous look. And also the creative look which they enjoyed to do so much.

Another amazing and talented student stepped out from the studio with her International Certificate for The Silver Makeup Course in Classical Glamorous Looks.

Laila Khan is originally Moroccan living in Dubai.

Her main aim was to study makeup as she is opening a Spa and Beauty Salon in India.

I would definitely suggest this to any salon owners to learn more about the services so they will be more into the whole business.

This is a wonderful thing to do. As an owner you definitely want to know what are your employees doing and also to get more knowledge about the services you are offering.

Laila was a very talented, patient and wanted to learn as much she could for these 5 days.

It was really a pleasure to work with her.

Our focus was on glamorous looks and asian bridal makeup looks. Bright and shiny colours, beautifully blended aye makeups and perfectly applied foundation were the main characteristics of her portfolio work.

Well here we are again doing what we love and being crazy in the studio, having fun whilst creating the zombie and old age look on the run up to Halloween when all the goals come out and the broomsticks!! ha ha

Smokey Eyes

Smokey Eyes Look Is a perfect makeup look for photo shoots, high fashion looks and for fashion shows. Basically its a simple full smokey look on the top with a transparent lip gloss. The steps of application are the same as the classical one. We need to make sure that the base (eye shadow) is strong ( 2 layers and blended).

Finish the whole makeup and exactly before the photo shooting or stage apply the lip gloss in one thick layer, carefully not to mess up the eye shadows and blending.

Smokey Eyes Application

Apply a transparent (clear) lip gloss on the top of eye shadows, especially on the centre of the lid (moving area of the eye) with a flat eye shadow brush. If you want to create a full wet look on the face you can apply the lip gloss on the high point of the face (top of cheekbones, bridge of the nose, chin, centre of the forehead). The look is ready for the shooting or for the stage. This look is not an everyday makeup.

Smokey Look

The smokey is for fashion shoes or photo shoots. The eye makeup will be spoiled by the lip gloss so make sure that you are in time and quick. The other two ways of creating a wet look is with Vaseline and the 8 hours cream.

The magical TV Stick foundation

The absolutely favourite full coverage foundation is the Kryolan TV Paint Stick not only makeup artists but anyone loves it who wants a flawless skin just in few strokes.

As a texture is dry and giving a semi matte finish. Perfect for combination skin and effectively reduces the shiny on the oily skin also.

Mostly used in theatre, TV, bridal makeup but can be used for any occasion.

No primer required before the TV Stick. The foundation will stay for more than 12 hours on our skin with just applying the TV stick on a plain skin. What is really important to make sure that the skin is dry (not over moisturised and wet because of the moisturiser or primer). In this case the foundation will stick to the skin and in 40 minutes will absorb.

Because its full coverage we can use it for creating drag makeup and its perfect in blocking out the eyebrows also.

The application can be with a foundation brush and the latex sponge also.

Tip of the day: apply the TV Stick with a wet sponge for a natural look if you need more coverage apply the TV Stick foundation with foundation brush.

The correct foundation application

Brush? Sponge? Beauty blender or fingers?

What is the right way? Well it depends what is the texture of your foundation.

If its liquid the best is to apply with a foundation brush or buffing or kabuki brush. This way the foundation layer will be thin and invisible on your skin but the same time a nice coverage. The Beauty blender is for blending the foundation after the brush application.

Cream foundations especially if we are using Kryolan Supracolor, Dermacolor or TV Stick the best to apply with wet latex sponge by dabbing in the skin not dragging around the foundation.

The correct foundation application

Tip of the day: If you have a dry skin and wondering how to achieve dewy and healthy glowing skin here is our tip for you. Before applying the liquid foundation spray your face with a water spray or rose water.

Do this between every single step. The rose water will give you a moisturised and dewy look.

To apply foundation, most individuals use their fingers, a sponge, or a brush. During a season change, there is a modest alteration in skin tone among sunscreen users. If you normally apply foundation with a brush, experiment with using your fingers. It only need a tiny amount of product. To blend out the foundation, use a wet sponge.

Choose Your Foundations

Blend the foundation with a deeper color. Always remember that a darker foundation must be applied after a lighter one. Newer techniques combine two foundations of the same colour. After that combine the bright and dark foundations. It will provide you with a precise and superior foundation appearance while also improving your complexion.

The most common problem that all of us struggling from to find the right colour of the foundation we are wearing.

When you go to the makeup store forget about trying the foundation on your hands. The reason is:

is not the same colour like your face
the skin on our face is more sensitive
the skin on your face is a different skin type than your hands so of course you have to find the matching foundation to your skin type.

The process of trying and finding the right colour is very simple. Pick up 3 colours which are very similar to your skin colour and try them on your face near to the jawline area. The colour what blends in completely to your skin and not visible that is your foundation colour.

Tip of the day: When applying foundation, apply it little by little build up your foundation. In this case you will get a perfect coverage and will look natural not caked up and a mask effect on a face.

Smokey eyes and red lips??? 10 years ago we would say oh no, you can’t have Smokey eyes with Red lips on. There was a rule before in makeup that if you are working with dark colours on your eyes the lips will be light and if you have a bold lipstick on you will go light with eyes.

We had around 45 staff to prepare the residents for the gala dinner with Kylie Minogue. It was a a formal dress evening and very glamorous.

Everyone who came and sat in the seats were extremely happy. We had no complaints.
