Day 2

Look 1
Designer: Next Generation

Welcome to the dark side with New Generations latest collection. With a gothic look to match their beautiful dark stain clothing,  make up by illamasqua to create this look.

We had a light base of foundation to give the clear clean skin look, very light contour just to highlight the cheek bones. On the eyes we used a sliver shimmer to the inner corner of the eyes, taking this to the base of the eyelid, up to the brow bone and gradually taking a darker shade in the eye crease for a bit of contouring, we also took the sliver shimmer under the eye and one light coat of mascara only of the top lashes.
For the lips we took a deep purple to finish off the gothic look.

Look 2
Designer: Jeans Couture

With Jeans Couture funky edgy style we took peach and bronze tones to the eyes.  On the lids we used a peachy bronze across the whole lid, we used a darker tone to bring the colour up to the brows. One coat of mascara on the top lashes. We kept the bottom lash line mascara free with a light sweep of peach pigment. For the lips we had a beautiful plum colour to compliment the bright eyes.  For the cheekbones we took a shade of rouge to match the lip colour.  The base was a matte clean finish.

Arab Fashion Week Day 2

Look 3
Designer: Laquan Smith

With deep shades of red, black latex and sexy thigh high boots for this collection, we went for the oh so seductive look.

We had to get the make up done before the gorgeous models got their hair done so we had no time to lose. The look was very similar to Jeans Couture. We change the eyes slightly making the colours more pinks rather than bronze, we blended the shade more and didn’t take it as high as the brow bone, using the same technique  to sweep slight pink pigment along the bottom lash line. With the lips we chose a slightly less blue undertone for a lighter shade.  We contoured the cheeks more and high

Arab Fashion Week Day 2

Look 4
Designer: Laura Macini

Laura Macini create a beautiful Egyptian look for her beautiful evening gowns.

We bronzed the base up a bit for this look, contouring and highlighting the cheekbones and forehead.  We kept the eyelid clean from colour using vaseline to create a beau tile sheen, used liquid liner on both the top and bottom lash line to elongate the eyes. For the lips we took  a light blush shade to finish off the look.

Arab Fashion Week Day 2

Look 5
Designer: Ilse Jara

A complete eye change for this look compared to Laura Macini. Eyeliner came off and the gold was packed on. We kept the base very light and clean with just a very slight bronze for a cheekbone contour but the  main focus was the eyes. We smashed heavy gold pigment from the top lashliene to the brows, smudging some vaseline on the lids as well for extra sheen.  Lips we took pinky nude colour and kept lips matte.  The hair stylist finished the look off by sweeping the hair back off the models face, this look is amazing on the catwalk as all the lights really shows the gold on the models eyes.

The bottom line is, your beat will never be its best without prepping your skin first. It’s just a fact. If you skip these two essential steps, your makeup is more likely to settle into fine lines or collect in dry and flakey areas rather than be perfectly smooth. It also helps your makeup stay in place for longer.

Step 1: Exfoliation is key, as this will help create a smooth canvas for makeup application and melt away any dead skin while leaving your skin brighter than before. Of course, as it’s formulated with papaya and pineapple enzymes that remove dead skin while amping up your glow game. We’re obsessed.

Step 2: The next step is hydration. Start with a plumping serum. For the under eye area, we love using the Eye Lift and Contour Peptide Serum, as it’s super lightweight and hydrating, but it also firms the lids and under eye area for a smooth finish. Then, we seal in all that glazed hydration with the Moisturizer, as it’s formulated with nourishing manuka honey and restorative peptides to plump and protect. It sounds simple, but it’s one of those make-or-break steps.

OLIVE SKIN

Makeup Diploma Color Theory

Makeup Diploma Color Theory As we move from the Northern Europe to the Mediterranean, skin assumes a darker colour with olive, beige and brown undertones. Hair is normally dark brown and eyes are generally brown or hazel. The skin is normally smooth, may be oily and is generally somewhat insensitive to the sun. Makeup colours that works well complement the underlying skin tones and are warm in character.

Brown – reds such as ochre and sienna can be used for lip colours, bronzers and for eye makeup. Olive green can also be used for eye shadow. Apricots can be used to brighten the cheeks.

Similarly women with a Mediterranean complexion will have dark areas under the eyes. Try a concealer with hints of peach to disguise these areas. In between the porcelain skin of Northern Europe and the olive skin of the Mediterranean, we find intermediate skin colours and tones. Skin can have beige or honey undertones with hints of red. It tends to be sensitive to the sun. Browns with hints of orange or yellow, very lightly applied, bring out the underlying skin tones. Lips can be peachy or golden brown. However eye makeup can be yellowy brown.

makeup courses dubaiASIAN SKIN

Basically asian skin typically has a golden colour with brown or orange undertones. Foundation that has a base of yellow / gold suits this skin type. Earthy browns and green suit the eyes. Oranges and corals might suit the lips or, if applied lightly, can highlight the cheeks. Gold bronzers match the basic skin tone.

PORCELAIN SKIN

Therefore Very light, translucent porcelain skin is found in Nordic and Celtic people. The eyes may be blue or green and hair blonde or red. Celts may have freckles are increase by sun.

Overall undertones will be typically cool with hints of blue. Skin colour matching foundation, peach blush, lips should be pink for the day wear and dark reds with a hint of blue for the night. Eye shadow can be chose to coordinate with iris colour.

BROWN SKIN

Generally Brown skin may have beige, olive or red-bronze undertones. The skin colour is very attractive in itself. Stay with natural look that largely matches the brown colour. Foundation can complement the underlying skin tone so a hint of red or ochre works well. A hint of pink on the lips and the cheeks can enliven the face. Use a little shimmer on the lips. For the eyes, use a brown a little lighter than the dominant skin colour for day wear. Overall for the evening, add drama with blues and lilacs.

MULTI – ETHNIC SKIN

While throughout the history, people from different geographical areas have been meeting, marrying and having children. This created new looks, skin colours and tones – very often looks that are strikingly beautiful. As a makeup artist you will see clients whose parents have different ethnicities and race.

The Perfect Lips

The Perfect Lips : I remember not even that long ago having big full lips were a bad thing, you kind of became a target for school bullies but now big lips are the in thing.

We wanted to share a few tips to get the perfect lips. Whether you hitting the town or going to work can make you lip look full and healthy without any surgery.

First thing first,

if you are a smoker STOP now. You need to take care of those luscious lips of yours by keeping them hydrated and

moisturised. If you are living in Dubai or any country where the sun is very strong you need to protect lips.

Make sure your lip balm has at least SPF 30.  As everyone knows, the best thing for beautiful skin is to make sure you drink plenty of water and eat good food.

If you tend to get dry lips stay away from any minty/menthol ingredients, they will dry them out even more, instead you want to look for balms with oils and lactic acid, these penetrate through your skin helping repair your lips to have soft skin.

We all exfoliate in the shower, so why stop there. Your lips also shed skin so its important to exfoliate them as well,

a great cheap tip is to get an old toothbrush in curlier movements brush you lips to get the dead skin cells away.

This will also stimulate your skin sells improving collagen which will help slow down the ageing process.

There are so many products on the market that can help plum your lips without having surgery.

You can get pluming glosses that are very effective, also the best thing to make your lips look more plum is MakeUp of course. The tips below will help you achieve the fuller look without spending 1000s in a clinic.

The Importance of Blusher

The Importance of  blusher

Now ladies the blusher is important as any other makeup product or step of application

The Importance of Blusher
Clear toned skin

blusher

Don’t leave it out because your makeup will look incomplete
Here are some practical tips for you about the blushers.
Where to apply it and how?

Right on the cheekbones!

Don’t go on the top of the cheekbones with blusher!

Under your cheekbones will be your contour so again no…keep it exactly on the cheekbones.

The right blush can add a pop of color to your cheeks, instantly making you look younger, healthier and prettier. However, many women are unsure about the right type of blush to use and how exactly they should apply it. Choose a suitable color for your skin tone. When choosing a blush colour, it’s important to pick one that matches your natural skin tone.

1. This means that the color you pick should be as close as possible to the color your cheeks turn when you’re naturally flushed. Picking a color that doesn’t match your skin tone can cause your blush to look unnatural and even garish.

2. A good tip for identifying your natural coloring is to make a tight fist with your hand for about ten seconds. The color that develops across your knuckles is the ideal color for your blush!

3. In general, pale skin tones will work best with light pink which mimics their natural flush. For a more dramatic look, peaches and mochas can work well.

4. Sallower skin tones will do best with orange or reddish-pink blushes which brighten the skin, adding a healthy glow.

5. Dark skin tones can get away with vivid oranges, pinks and reds which add a pop of life and color.

Cocktail Makeup Look

Cocktail Makeup Look

A  Cocktail makeup application can be completed in 20 to 30 minutes. Why cocktail? This makeup look is perfect for dinner time, weddings or any occasion where we would like to have a little bit stronger makeup on. Its between the daytime and evening makeup look, but stronger then the daytime look but lighter and softer than the evening look.

Lets see the steps:

  1. Cleanse, tone and moisturize: Wait a few minutes for moisturizer to be absorbed. Use primer if needed.
  2. Foundation: Dab liquid foundation over the entire face with your fingertips or sponge. For cream foundation use a wet sponge for a better and smoother coverage. Apply in thin layer over the entire face.

When you applying the foundation, you must ensure that you got the right colour. Choose 3 colours which are close to your skin colour. Apply a line on the face from each colour near to the jaw line. The colour which blends into your skin colour and its invisible that is the right foundation for you. Don’t try the foundations on the hands, its not helpful about choosing the right colour, because the skin on the hands are not the same as on your face, its not the same colour as your face and the skin on the face is more sensitive.

Make sure that the entire face is well blended and covered. Dont stop at the jaw line extend the foundation under it also and on the neck. If your first coat of foundation does not cover well, apply a second or third. Layering is always better in the makeup artistry than an initial heavy application.

  1. Corrector / concealer : Cover blemishes and dark areas with orange, yellow or peach-toned

corrector. The concealer will conceal the corrector colour, what is in skin colours. Application with fingertips or concealer brush.

  1. Powder: Use a loose pale yellow-based powder or translucent dusting powder to set the makeup. Apply with a brush, for dry skin dust only around the nose and forehead since these areas t to be a little richer in oils.
  2. Eyebrows: Shape the brows with a small amount of brow powder or pencil. If you have a dark hair, using a colour that is one or two tones lighter than the hair colour. Use a golden brown or light brown shade if you have a fair skin complexion.
  3. Eye shadow: Choose three shades of eye shadow: light, medium and dark. Use the dark to line the upper lid, thinly, along the lash edge. Use medium shade to cover the remaining part of the eye lid up to the crease. Use the lightest shade for the area between the crease and the brow. You can highlight the eyes by using the darkest shade in the crease of the eye, and/or to stretch the eye shadow along the lid out toward the temple and blend the colour.

In this makeup look we can go with a stronger eye makeup. By applying a touch of black in the outer corner of the eye will give deepness to our look. The highlighter can be pearl shine (shimmer) to give a bit of glamour to our eye makeup look.

  1. Eyeliner: Use cake liner and apply with an angled or fine liner brush, or use a sharpened eyeliner pencil. In general apply a black, dark brown, dark grey/black, eyeliner in a thin line at the base of the lashes. Start at the edge of the upper lashes.
  2. Mascara: Black mascara is the best to highlight your lashes. Apply in two thin coats rather than one heavy one. If you are deciding to curl your lashes do it before you applying mascara.
  3. Blush: Apply the blush directly on the cheekbones and blend it to the hairline. You can add a little shimmer on the top of the cheekbones if you want to emphasize them.
  4. Lip liner: Apply lip liner in advance of lip colour as the lip liner helps contain the lipstick, keeps it from feathering, and makes it more durable. Remember that symmetry is beauty. Use your lip liner to improve the symmetrical look of the lips with the right side being the mirror image of the left. Try also to make upper and lower lips appear to be equal thickness.
  5. Lipstick: Neutral shades and sheer formulas are perfect for a daytime look. Use a lip brush to apply dark or bright colour’s since these require very precise application. Add a dot of a gloss to the centre of the bottom lip and then blot. Make sure no lipstick sticks to the teeth.
