Arab Fashion Week is just around the corner. Our instructors and students are preparing for one of the biggest events before the end of the year. This season, we’ll be seeing a lot of amazing collections by talented international fashion designers like Amato, Michael Cinco, and Diana Mahrach. We will also see collections from some Fashion web stores like Shein and Jollychic.

Each designer have different concepts when it comes to the looks that they want to accomplish for their collections. Some designers want very simple makeup and hair and some of them want something more drastic. One look is created with gold flakes around the forehead while one designer want a look with a completely black graphic liner.

Students are now practicing the different looks with the instructors. The instructors are timing them and making sure they can complete each look as fast as they can. Most models will change looks 2-3 times during the evening. It is the job of the makeup artist to make sure that everything is set before they get on the catwalk.

While knowing all of the basics, the students try different approaches when doing makeup faster. Models are easier to do makeup on since most of them already have clear skin and don’t need a lot of coverage. Since we are changing looks of the models, we need to make sure that the skin will be easier to clean.

I had the chance to explore all aspects of makeup and photography, also with fantastic teachers guiding me along the way. The best part about The Lipstick Makeup Institute was that it is a partner company with YH Studios, and therefore I had the first-hand opportunity to work with the photographers in the studio. They also provided me with a professional portfolio filled with a variety of looks.

From Student to Teacher:

Since then, I have taken the skills I learnt and started my own freelance business as a makeup artist. By the time a few months, and now I am working as a makeup teacher at The Lipstick Makeup Institute! I am currently teaching new students the skills I have learnt here myself. I am so grateful to be a part of this incredible institution that allowed me to discover and expand on my passion for the art that is makeup & being a teacher. It’s so great to be back where it all started, and it feels like home!
