Contouring and Highlighting

We can easily say that contouring and highlighting is one of the biggest trends in makeup although contouring and highlighting is a part of a makeup application for a long time.

What is contouring and highlighting?

With contouring and highlighting we want to bring back the 3D look of the face, to give more dept on the contoured areas and highlight the highest point of the face.

When you apply foundation on the skin it covers the blemishes and refreshes the face but at the same time it kinda wipes off the features and shapes. With contouring we can give more dept and shape to the face also because we are shading the contoured areas will look optically sharper and smaller.

For contouring we are using a greyish – brown colour as we want to make it look the natural and real as possible. This colour can be 3 or 4 shades darker than our skin colour.

Highlighting is a process of enhancing the face areas where the light “hits the face”. The highlighted area is lighter and optically looks wider and bigger.

Tip of the day: if you don’t know where to contour your face, all you need to do is to check your face in a natural light in the mirror. The shadows on the face will show you where you have to contour. Generally its the hairline on the forehead or the temples, eye socket, nose, under the cheekbones, jawline and chin. Don’t forget the contours are changing as the per the face shapes and they are never straight.

Learn Day Time Makeup Basics

Cleanse, tone and moisturise: Wait a few minutes for moisturiser to be absorbed
Foundation: Dab liquid foundation over the entire face with your fingertips or sponge. For cream foundation use a wet sponge for a smoother coverage
Make sure that the entire face is well blended and covered. Don’t stop at jaw line extend the foundation under it also and on the neck
Corrector / concealer: Cover blemishes and dark areas with orange, yellow or peach-toned
Corrector: The concealer will conceal the corrector colour, what is in skin colours. Application with fingertips or concealer brush.
Powder: Use a loose pale yellow-based powder or translucent dusting powder to set the makeup
Eyebrows: Shape the brows with a small amount of brow powder or pencil. If you have a dark hair, use a colour that is one or two tones lighter than the hair colour
Eye shadow: Choose three shades of eye shadow: light, medium and dark. Use the dark to line upper lid, thinly, along the lash edge. Use medium shade to cover the remaining part of the eye lid up to the crease
Eyeliner: Use cake liner and apply with an angled or fine liner brush, or use a sharpened eyeliner pencil.
Mascara: Black mascara is the best to highlight your lashes. Apply in two thin coats rather than one heavy one
Blush: Apply the blush directly on the cheekbones and blend it to the hairline.
Lip liner: Apply lip liner in advance of lip colour as the lip liner helps contain the lipstick, keeps it from feathering, and makes it more durable.
Lipstick: Use a lip brush to apply dark or bright colours since these require very precise application. Add a dot of a gloss to the centre of the bottom lip and then blot

Mr. Dubai 2019 sending Good morning to everyone.

Mr. Dubai and our team had an amazing day full of fun and joy. As usual from early morning our lovely team was ready to do some incredible pictures and videos for a new campaign. Handsome model of this day was MR. Dubai 2019 – Max Fardan. The Lipstick Makeup Institute student of the International Platinum Media Makeup Course was the one who did awesome Naked Makeup for our celebrity.

The first location of the day was in a gym, from where we moved to one of best beach shores in Dubai. Regarding to the concept the body makeup was based on contouring and highlighting . With such kind of job you always need to have in your kit spray with water and body oil. Body oil on the sun gives beautiful reflection of the light. That’s enhancing your highlighting areas. At the same time water allows you to achieve healthy wet look. Our student did great job and didn’t leave model even for 1 min. That’s the true behaviour of the real Professional MUA.
