ARABIC MAKEUP LOOK

Cleanse, tone and moisturise:

FOR ARABIC MAKEUP LOOK

Wait a few minutes for moisturiser to be absorbed. Use primer if needed.

Foundation:

Dab liquid foundation over the entire face with your fingertips or sponge. For cream foundation use a wet sponge for a better and smoother coverage. Apply in thin layer over the entire face.
When you are applying foundation, you must ensure that you got the right colour. Choose 3 colours which are close to your skin colour. The foundation that appears invisible to the eye is the correct colour. Apply a line on the face from each colour near to the jaw line. Don’t try the foundations on the hands, because the skin on the hands are not the same as on your face, the skin on the face is more sensitive.
Make sure that the entire face is well blended and covered. Don’t stop at the jaw line extend the foundation under it also and on the neck. If your first coat of foundation does not cover well, apply a second or third. Layering is always better in the makeup artistry than an initial heavy application.

Corrector / concealer:

Cover blemishes and dark areas with orange, yellow or peach-toned
Corrector: The concealer will conceal the corrector colour, what is in skin colours. Application with fingertips or concealer brush.
Contouring and highlighting
Powder: Use a loose pale yellow-based powder or translucent dusting powder to set the makeup. Apply with a brush, for dry skin dust only around the nose and forehead since these areas tend to be a little richer in oils.
Eyebrows: Shape the brows with a small amount of brow powder or pencil. If you have a dark hair, use a colour that is one or two tones lighter than the hair colour. Use a golden brown orlight brown shade if you have a fair skin complexion.

Eye shadow:

Choose three shades of eye shadow: light, medium and dark. use the dark to line the upper lid, thinly, along the lash edge. Use medium shade to cover the remaining part of the eye lid up to the crease. Use the lightest shade for the area between the crease and the brow. You can highlight the eyes by using the darkest shade in the crease of the eye, and/or to stretch the eye shadow along the lid out toward the temple and blend the colour. The highlighter can be pearl shine (shimmer) to give a bit of glamour to our eye makeup look. In the evening we want to look glamorous, sexy and beautiful. We can use matte eye shadows as we were mentioning them before, but we can go for the shimmers and glitters also.
Eyeliner: Use gel liner and apply with an angled or fine liner brush, or use a sharpened eyeliner pencil. In general a black, dark brown, dark grey/black, eyeliner in a thin line
At the base of the lashes. Start at the edge of the upper lashes.
Mascara: Black mascara is the best to highlight your lashes. Apply in two thin coats rather than one heavy one. If you decide to curl your lashes do it before applying the mascara.
Blush: Apply the blush directly on the cheekbones and blend it to the hairline. You can add a little shimmer on the top of the cheekbones if you want to emphasise them.

The makeup theory at the lipstick

At the lipstick institute, we highly focus on the makeup theory with our students. We give our students a full knowledge on the history of makeup; as its essential to know every look for every Era. Students will be tested on the history makeup and will be practicing the looks on the model.

During the theory week at The Lipstick institute, the makeup educator goes over the personal hygiene, makeup and brush hygiene, and makeup organization.

Learning the eye shapes, face shapes, lashes, makeup steps, the use of the different kind of brushes, covering skin types and skin conditions. The lipstick institute gives their students a whole booklet that covers everything about makeup with pictures.

The makeup educator goes through the different styles from day look to evening to SFX etc. It’s important for the students, to have an understanding of the looks and steps before being in the makeup room.

Finally, the teacher makes her student work on a two face charts, so she can get a good idea on her students understanding. At this point, students should be ready to proceed with the makeup application training.

How to match foundation to skin tone

How to match foundation to skin tone, Imagine you’re on a hunt for the perfect foundation, lip color, or blush shade — and you find it! The texture, formula, and depth of color are all that you’d hope for, then you put it on, and everything goes completely out the window. The best-laid plans fall flat, the color is completely off! “What happened? I had everything right!” you may be thinking, then you take another look, and you notice three words: Neutral, Warm, and Cool.

You may be wondering, what does it all mean, and how does it affect not only my foundation shade choice but also my lip shade and cheek shade choices? The trick is learning how to match foundation to skin tone.

What Are Undertones?

Neutral, warm, and cool represent your undertone. Your undertone is just as important as your surface tone. The undertone represents the color from underneath the surface of your skin that affects your overall hue. There are three undertones – neutral, warm, and cool.

Neutral undertones have a mix of cool and warm undertones which means they can comfortably vacillate between blue-based shades and orange-based shades.

A warm undertone is more peachy, golden, or yellow therefore warmer undertones look better in warmer shades such as orange-based reds, corals, and golds.

A cool undertone is generally associated with skin that has hints of blue or pink. The best makeup for cool undertones include shades like bluer-based reds, pinks, or purples.

How to Find My Undertone

The next question you may be asking is how do I determine my undertone?

Here are three methods that are commonly used:

The vein method. Start by looking at the veins on the inside of your wrist. If your veins look blue, you have cool undertones. If your veins look green, then you’re warm. If you are neutral, this technique may prove to be more difficult since you have a mixture of both cool and warm. The vein method can be a bit challenging so trying out one or both the following methods may be easier.
The white fabric method. This method includes holding up a piece of white fabric and an off-white fabric to your face. If you look better in white, you have a warm undertone, whereas if you look better in off-white or look washed out in white, you have a cool undertone. If both look good, you’re neutral.
The jewelry selection method. This may be the fastest way of all. Typically, cooler undertones look better in silver and warmer undertones better in gold, whereas neutral undertones can look great in both.

One thing to be cautious about is not to confuse depth of skin tone with undertone. Even the fairest skin can have warm undertones, and darker skin can have cool ones. Even when tanning, your surface tone may change but undertone never changes.
