Special Effects Week

For our students of the Professional International Platinum Makeup Course this week is a final week.

Firstly, all of them did a great job. Secondary, their portfolios are looking really amazing. Thirdly, now our graduates fully prepared to start their journey in the world of Art, Fashion & Beauty.

Special Effects

On the last week of studying and practicing our students are working on their last portfolio look. They are getting in touch with latex, wax, fake blood and other specific products that are used for Special Effects Makeup.

It’s a great fun, because such experience they can’t get anywhere else. By the end of the week crazy stuff going on in school. Students creating really scary looks on the models. Please note that all products and models are provided by The Lipstick Makeup Institute.

Arab Fashion Week 2020

Arab Fashion Week 2020

The Lipstick Makeup Institute is an official partner of Arab Fashion Week.

This 2020 year was special to all of us because of COVID-19.

First time in history of Arab Fashion Council the season 10 was live online. Backstage makeup artists team kept social distancing because of current situation in the world.

All makeups for the models were done in gloves and masks. Brushes, products and tools were sanitised in between each makeup application. Makeup Artists did great job.

The Lipstick Makeup Institute is proud of their graduates because they were super professional.

Backstage Professional Beauty 2020

Backstage – 18th of February 2020, The Lipstick Makeup Institute team was in charge of makeup for Jamilla Paul’s session at Professional Beauty 2020.

Our team was in charge of the makeup of 2 beautiful models that embodied high fashion and glamour. The talk was about our experiences as backstage stylists and makeup artists. Making sure that all makeup and hair will be stage ready.

The transition of hair and makeup are very important. We only have a very limited amount of time to do the makeup and hair backstage in between shows. Additionally, the models need to change clothes for the new designer, fix their makeup, and then go out in the runway.

On top of this, our head trainer and her students were working at the Provoc stand. demonstrating the products and makeup for the guests of Professional Beauty 2020. They were creating beauty looks on guests who were interested in the products for the two days of the event. This is a huge exposure to our students who want to get into the field of makeup. And we are very fortunate to be a part of the Provoc team.

Professional Beauty convention event happens once a year. Basically to showcase new innovations in the beauty industry for professionals and consumers alike. The Lipstick Makeup Institute has been part of this event for a number of years already and it is really good exposure for our students to be a part of it.

As a student and graduate of The Lipstick Makeup Institute, you’ll be having these experiences with different events. This is rarely done by other makeup schools in Dubai. On the other hand, we believe in our students capabilities, therefore we give them these chances.

LIAM PAYNE MAKEUP DONE BY THE LIPSTICK TEAM

Liam Payne, former member of the boy band One Direction, headed to Dubai for another concert for the Dubai Shopping Festival.

Liam Payne is well known for hit songs such as Strip That Down, Polaroid, Bedroom Floor and his latest single Stack It Up.

The Lipstick Makeup Institute team was asked to do Liam’s makeup for the concert held in Dubai last 27th of December 2019. This concert commemorated the opening of the Dubai Shopping Festival held yearly every December to about February of the following year.

The Lipstick team was tasked to do Liam Payne’s makeup and make sure that he looks flawless throughout the evening.

Together with the Lipstick Makeup Team was Sisters Beauty Lounge that took care of Liam Payne’s hair for the concert.

It’s such a great honour to work with celebrities like Liam Payne in the industry. As a student and graduate of The Lipstick Makeup Institute, you’ll have those chances. Our students and graduates have a more stable footing when they finish their studies with us.

BBC Documentary at the Lipstick Makeup Institute

BBC Ireland passed by our makeup institute a couple of days ago to do an interview with Yasmin Hussain the founder of YH Studios and The Lipstick Makeup Institute.

BBC Ireland passed by the other day to do a documentary with Yasmin for a TV show. The shoot was was scheduled for two days in YH Studios, The Lipstick Makeup Institute and the Arab Fashion Council Headquarters.

They were able to feature some of our students working on their models and had an interview with Jacob Abrian, the CEO and Founder of the Arab Fashion Council.

The BBC crew were able to film our teachers, students and graduates while working on our models in the hour-long documentary.

They talked about how the students and graduates are very much involved during and after their courses finish. This is very evident with the fact that we bring them to different events and photoshoots. This is also great for them to have exposure for their careers as makeup artists. It is a blessing to have wonderful and talented students that are so hard working.

They toured around the facilities and showcased our new location at City Walk 2. We wanted to make sure that people know that we’ve moved from Media City and is now in a better area at the heart of Dubai.

The BBC crew also showcased Ms. Yasmin Hussain on the job while she photographed Max Fardan.

Institute Makeup around the world

Institute – In the past 5 years, makeup has exploded exponentially across the world. You can see more creativity from the effects of social media such as Youtube and Instagram. We see new brands popping up everyday trying to get involved in this industry.

Institute – We also see more people who want to get involved in the the makeup world as makeup artists. Some use Youtube as a tool to learn, some pay to go to different masterclasses, and some go to proper makeup institutes to jumpstart their career.

In our institute, we’ve come across students who went to other schools and paid thousands of dirhams only to know that they didn’t learn anything. They don’t even know how to hold a brush properly. It’s really sad since they’ve paid so much money to learn and in the end they are cramped in a space with 25+ students and 1 teacher. They are only entitled to do 2 professional photoshoots and most of their time is spent on paperwork and face charts. Our faces are not made of paper – we are three dimensional.

Here in Lipstick, we make sure that our students get the most out of what they pay for. We teach them everything from makeup basics, trade secrets and even how to deal with clients. They get to work with real models and normal people so that they know how to create, enhance and transform each individual. Our goal is to be a world class makeup institute and to showcase our graduates’ skill level after they finish learning with us for 6 weeks.

We’ve had graduates who are now business owners, well-known in and around the middle east and the ones who have gone back to their home country and still pursuing makeup artistry for themselves.

Trunk Show at 1422

Trunk Show at 1422 – A new season, a new collection. The Arab Fashion Council will be holding another trunk show together with The Lipstick Makeup Institute Team. It will be held in the Arab Fashion Council Head Quarters in City Walk.

Trunk Show at 1422 – Our team is doing makeup for the trunk show with the Arab Fashion Council. We are very excited about this. Our team will be backstage taking care of the models before the show. Making sure that they’re ready before they walk out clad in beautiful garments made by world class designers from the region. As the official backstage makeup team, we strive to showcase our talents and skills no matter how big or small the event is.

We’ll be using the cosmetic products provided to us by Makeup Forever Middle East. They have been gracious enough to sponsor our Institute with their amazing products.

Also, if you haven’t read our previous blog, we mentioned that we’re having a crash course on the Professional Platinum Media Makeup Diploma Course. We’re holding this course for three weeks intensively – like a boot camp. The students who will be joining this course will be receiving the benefits of the Platinum Media Makeup Diploma Course. Special FX week with the Lipstick Students is always a week that our students look forward to in their Platinum Makeup Course.

Our students get to explore the power of makeup in its full potential by transforming their models from normal to something out of the ordinary. With special fx makeup, the sky is the limit! You can turn people into monsters, faeries, and different characters. The possibilities are endless and all you need is your imagination.

Apart from the course, our former students are out on a paid job for 4 days at a distinguished and high class location in Dubai doing Special Effects and Halloween Makeup for 30 staff members.
