Foundation Hacks
Platinum Course

Foundation is a total game changer, and possibly one of THE most integral parts of any beauty look. If the shade is off or the blending isn’t on point, it can ruin the whole look.
Achieving flawless foundation is also a major skill and there’s a lot of room for error – even the most seasoned pro can have a day where their foundation just does not behave!

Remember, the aim is always to achieve incredible, healthy-looking skin not great foundation, and that’s what we’re going to help you do with these epic hacks and tips.

Makeup Diploma

Here are our ride-or-die foundation hacks that never let us down.

1. For Flawless Skin: Prep is Key

Flawless makeup always starts with a great, hydrating skincare regime. The reality is, the better hydrated your skin is, the less likely your makeup will look cakey.

2. To Avoid a Cakey or Patchy Look: Exfoliate First

Beautiful, glowing skin is our number one goal RN, and the easiest way to achieve a radiant glow is by exfoliating before makeup application. Without regular exfoliation, your foundation runs the risk of looking cakey or patchy, as it clings to dry skin and texture.

3. To Find the Right Foundation: Always Read the Label

It might sound obvious, but you should always read the label before purchasing a new product, especially a new foundation.

4. For the Ultimate Shade Match: Buy Two Foundations

If a foundation you love doesn’t have the perfect shade match for you, buy a foundation that’s one shade lighter than your skin tone and one that’s slightly darker, then combine the two. While we know this is a more expensive option, it does just mean that both formulas will last longer

5. For the Perfect Shade: Figure out Your Undertone

Finding the right undertone is key to shade matching like a pro-MUA. There are three key undertones: warm (golden, red, and yellow undertones), cool (beige and pink undertones), and neutral (a balance of gold and pink undertones). Your undertone, look at the veins on the inside of your wrist; if they’re green, you have a warm undertone (the yellow in your skin acts as a filter and makes your blue veins look green), and if they look blue, you have a cool undertone. Neutral undertones will see a combo of green and blue veins.

Use Setting Powder To Airbrush

Use Setting Powder To Airbrush

Use Setting Powder To Airbrush

As far as beauty staples go, our beat wouldn’t be the same without setting powder. Seriously, on a recent vacay, the moment we realized we’d forgotten setting powder.

how to use setting powder properly, and all our pro makeup tips that will take your entire beat to the next level. Consider this your setting powder masterclass.

What is Setting Powder?

A setting powder is a finely-milled powder that is used to set liquid complexion products, but it can do SO. MUCH. MORE! A good setting powder helps increase the longevity of your makeup, combats midday shine, and gives your complexion an airbrushed finish. There are typically two types of setting powder – pressed and loose.

Loose setting powder: A loose setting powder is a finely milled powder (the finer, the better) that blends and melts seamlessly with your makeup to increase the staying power and provide a smooth-skin finish.

How to use loose setting powder: She’s a multitasker, to say the least. Opt for a light dusting of powder to set, smooth, and mattify, or you can use loose powder for baking your makeup, AKA when you apply a thick layer to different areas of your face to brighten and sculpt.

Pressed setting powder: Pressed powder is (you guessed it) a pressed, finely milled powder that delivers a soft veil of coverage, typically with a softer, more natural finish than loose powder. It’s also great for mattifying touch-ups on the go, smoothing skin texture, and increasing the longevity of cream formulas. Wear pigmented pressed setting powders alone or on top of your other complexion products.

Use Setting Powder To Airbrush

Find the Right Setting Powder Shade

Finding the right shade for any complexion product is like cracking a cheat code. While you’ll find many loose powders are translucent, some can leave a white cast, so we always recommend finding a shade that complements your skin tone. It’s also important to note that you may require different shades depending on your desired result.

Prep Your Skin for Powder

We realize there’s a ton of info, so we’ll keep things short: if your skin is dry or you haven’t exfoliated recently, your setting powder is more likely to settle into fine lines or crease in smile lines, thereby making your skin look dry and flakey rather than smooth.

Achieving a flawless foundation

Achieving a flawless foundation

Achieving a flawless foundation

All in all this is key to any makeup look.

When applying foundation, less is more.

Start with a small amount on the back of your hand. Use a brush, sponge, or your fingers to apply.

Moreover, brushes give a more polished finish, while sponges provide a natural look.

Fingers are great for quick and easy application. Dab the foundation on your face, then blend outwards. This ensures an even distribution.

It starts with good skin prep.

Firstly, cleanse your face thoroughly. This removes dirt and oil, ensuring a smooth base.

Secondly, apply a moisturizer suited to your skin type. Hydrated skin allows foundation to glide on easily.

Thirdly,  moisturizing, use a primer. Primers fill in pores and fine lines, creating an even surface. Choose one that addresses your skin concerns, whether it’s redness, oiliness, or dullness.

Finally, it’s time for foundation.

However, picking the right shade is crucial. Test a few on your jawline to find the perfect match.

Above all the shade should blend seamlessly with your neck.

As I have shown, when applying foundation, less is more.

As long as you start with a small amount on the back of your hand. Use a brush, sponge, or your fingers to apply.

By and large, brushes give a more polished finish, while sponges provide a natural look.

What is important

Equally important, fingers are great for quick and easy application. Dab the foundation on your face, then blend outwards.

Due to this ensures an even distribution.

To avoid a cakey look, build up coverage gradually. Apply thin layers, focusing on areas needing more coverage. Blend well into your hairline and jawline to prevent any noticeable lines.

Evidently set your foundation with a translucent powder.

Equally  important for oily skin.

Achieving a flawless foundation
Beautiful make up school

Lightly dust the powder on your face, paying extra attention to your T-zone. This helps the foundation last longer and reduces shine.

Lastly, mist your face with a setting spray. This locks in your makeup and adds a natural glow. Plus, it helps your foundation stay put all day.

In summary, flawless foundation requires preparation, the right tools, and a bit of patience. Cleanse, moisturize, prime, and choose the correct shade. Apply in thin layers, blend thoroughly, and set it with powder and spray. Follow these steps, and you’ll achieve a flawless finish every time.

Makeup Mistake You Don’t Know

Makeup Mistake You Don’t Know

Makeup Mistake

Is It Your Foundation? Chemical SPFs found in foundation and concealers won’t cause flashback, but if they use the minerals Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide, then the probability of getting a bright white face is much more likely.

Or Is It Your Powder? By far your worst flashback enemy is silica – the culprit behind the celeb mishaps above. Silica is used mainly in HD powders (some translucent powders have it too), and its light-reflecting particles make it perfect for soaking up oil and blurring imperfections; giving you that flawless matte look that was created for film cameras. Alas, when the flash comes out it can result in harsh white patches that look far from fleeky. HD powders are different to setting powders, so it’s less likely the latter will be a problem, but still check for silica to be on the safe-side before a night out.

Makeup Mistake You Don’t Know

How to Avoid Flashback:

Foundation Fix: One option is to avoid using foundations with SPF at nighttime. You can also check the ingredients on your foundation; if it has SPF but no Titanium Dioxide or Zinc Oxide, you won’t need to worry about ghost face.

Steer Clear of Silica: If a powder lists silica in the ingredients there’s a very strong chance you’ll get flashback – especially if you bake with it! HD powders use silica because it’s silky smooth and makes your skin look poreless and beautiful, so, by all means, If you use the slightest amount, you could get away with it, but be sure to do a quick flash test before you leave the house.

Hygiene Beauty Products

Hygiene Beauty Products We Should Never Share

In the same way that you wouldn’t lend to your toothbrush to anyone, you shouldn’t share certain beauty products. Our bodies and skin are rife with invisible bacteria and we can never be sure of someone’s level of hygiene. Despite your generous nature, it’s best not to share: Treatments in pots: The contents may be contaminated, as we use our fingers to apply them. Day cream, eyeshadow, lip gloss, body lotions… All of these come in pots or bottles and should be strictly kept for personal use. It’s important that you don’t increase the risk of adding bacteria to your products. So it’s wise to give your hands a thorough wash before dipping your fingers into your favourite products. And make sure you firmly close their lids to keep them better preserved.

Hygiene Beauty Products
Hygiene Beauty Products

Lipstick: Never lend your lipstick to someone – even if it’s your best friend!

Viruses and bacteria (herpes, thrush, cold sores) thrive in our mouths and are not visible to the naked eye. We can be carriers of certain illnesses without having symptoms, but that may not the same in your case!

So better to be safe than sorry and keep your lipstick under wraps. Ditto for lip gloss and balms.

Mascara: Our eye zone is incredibly sensitive and prone to infections including conjunctivitis, styes and orbital cellulitis. Even if your mascara wand looks clean when you take it out, don’t take any risks by sharing it with others! If you can’t bear to say “”no””, then opt for silicone mascara wands (as do pros), which are easy to clean. Eyeliner: As with all parts of the eye, the mucous membrane is particularly at risk of infection. So keep your eyeliner to yourself – its oily tip is a bacterial breeding ground! Compacts: It’s not the compact itself that’s risky, but rather the sponge, applicator or brush that comes with it. By sharing your powder, you’re also sharing germs.

Loose powder, compact foundations, bronzers should be for you and you only. Brushes: You’ll be okay if you wash your brushes – kabuki, blusher, bevel and fan brushes – after each use. If that’s not the case, don’t share them. Bacteria love them and their bristles! Nail files: As with nail clippers, these should not be doled out. When we give ourselves a manicure/pedicure, we dislodge bacteria and grime hidden under our nails.

Even if you keep them for personal use, it’s wise to wash and dry your hands before using them.

Nail varnish, however, is fine to share as bacteria aren’t capable of surviving in their bottles. The same goes for perfume (the alcohol content zaps bacteria), sprays (as we don’t touch them with our fingers) and pencils (which can be sharpened to get a clean surface).

Makeup tips for dewy skin

Makeup tips for dewy skin

Makeup tips for dewy skin

Looking fabulous 24/7 isn’t always the easiest of tasks. Lack of sleep, stress, burn-out, pollution easily gives us dead skin and other skin problems. But there is a solution to everything, like these 10 face-saving makeup tips.
Makeup tips for dewy skin
Makeup tips for dewy skin

Makeup tips for dewy skin

1.Start With Skin Prep

Before working on your complexion, you need to make sure your skin is squeaky clean and moisturized. So remove any grime with micellar water or cleansing cream. Finish off by applying a hydrating and moisturizing Micro-Essence. You can try the new L’Oréal Paris Revitalift Crystal Micro-Essence which is an ultra-weight light formula made to moisturize and exfoliate your skin. Its watery formula absorbs completely and penetrates 10 layers deep into the skin to give you hydration and glowing skin.

2.Prepare The Base

Apply a primer or blur cream to cover minor blemishes, lines and even out your skin tone. Blurs are feather-light and residue-free. They leave our skin baby-soft and uniform.

3.Use The right Foundation

The ‘right’ foundation means one that can’t be seen. To avoid a caked-on look, go for a texture that suits your skin type: creamy for dry skin, fluid for combination skin and a mousse or mineral-based one for oily skin. It would help if you chose a tone that perfectly matches the colour of your skin.

4.Blend Your Foundation

Nothing’s worse than streaks or heavy-duty foundation lines. Smooth on (don’t rub) your foundation with your fingertip or a damp sponge. Blend it outwards starting from your nose. Keep going until you reach the side of your face and carefully work it up to your hairline.

5.Cover Patches With Corrector

Cover any red patches (under your eyes, on your chin etc.) with a green-tinted base, as it’s red’s complementary colour. Use a stick corrector to attack any tenacious blemishes – blotches, spots, dark circles, scars – and tap it in with your finger for a natural, uniform finish.

6.Let Concealer Do The Magic

Choose a tone that’s a shade lighter than your skin. Apply a tiny bit to the inner corner of your eyes and a couple of dabs under your lower lashes. Blend it in with your fingertip, working out from the inside corner.

7.Only Apply Enough Powder

Too much powder will only emphasize any enlarged pores or blemishes. Only apply a face powder if your skin’s too shiny or oily. Even if you do, go for a translucent formula that will diffuse light without accentuating your T-zone.

8.Use The Blush

To get a natural, fresh-faced finish, apply a touch of peachy pink blusher to the apple of your cheeks and blend out towards your temples. You can also dab a tiny bit onto the crease of your upper eyelids.

9.Shine With Eye Makeup

Less is more and going down a natural route is the key. Apply a light eye shadow to your brow bones and a creamier, darker one to your upper lids (use the colour of your eyes to find an enhancing match). Finish off with a coat of mascara, for a wide-eyed look.

10. Tease With Your Lips

A touch of lipstick brightens any complexion. Go for a shade that best suits your lips. If you prefer a natural look, apply a nude-colour lipstick for a sumptuous no makeup effect. Apply one that’s two tones lighter than your lips to get a uniform finish. Steer clear of lipsticks that are too dark – they’ll only pile on the years.

Makeup tips for dewy skinBefore applying eye makeup, get rid of eye bags by popping two spoons in the fridge for an hour and then placing them on your eyes. Similarly, while applying foundation, press a tissue onto your face to remove any excess, paying attention to your roots, eyebrows, sides of your nose and corner of your mouth. Finish off your make up spraying a bit of makeup spray to keep everything in place. Follow these makeup tips to ensure that you make eyes turn wherever you go.

Day 2

Look 1
Designer: Next Generation

Welcome to the dark side with New Generations latest collection. With a gothic look to match their beautiful dark stain clothing,  make up by illamasqua to create this look.

We had a light base of foundation to give the clear clean skin look, very light contour just to highlight the cheek bones. On the eyes we used a sliver shimmer to the inner corner of the eyes, taking this to the base of the eyelid, up to the brow bone and gradually taking a darker shade in the eye crease for a bit of contouring, we also took the sliver shimmer under the eye and one light coat of mascara only of the top lashes.
For the lips we took a deep purple to finish off the gothic look.

Arab Fashion Week Day 2

Look 2
Designer: Jeans Couture

With Jeans Couture funky edgy style we took peach and bronze tones to the eyes.  On the lids we used a peachy bronze across the whole lid, we used a darker tone to bring the colour up to the brows. One coat of mascara on the top lashes. We kept the bottom lash line mascara free with a light sweep of peach pigment. For the lips we had a beautiful plum colour to compliment the bright eyes.  For the cheekbones we took a shade of rouge to match the lip colour.  The base was a matte clean finish.

Arab Fashion Week Day 2

Arab Fashion Week Day 2

Look 3
Designer: Laquan Smith

With deep shades of red, black latex and sexy thigh high boots for this collection, we went for the oh so seductive look.

We had to get the make up done before the gorgeous models got their hair done so we had no time to lose. The look was very similar to Jeans Couture. We change the eyes slightly making the colours more pinks rather than bronze, we blended the shade more and didn’t take it as high as the brow bone, using the same technique  to sweep slight pink pigment along the bottom lash line. With the lips we chose a slightly less blue undertone for a lighter shade.  We contoured the cheeks more and high

Arab Fashion Week Day 2

Look 4
Designer: Laura Macini

Laura Macini create a beautiful Egyptian look for her beautiful evening gowns.

We bronzed the base up a bit for this look, contouring and highlighting the cheekbones and forehead.  We kept the eyelid clean from colour using vaseline to create a beau tile sheen, used liquid liner on both the top and bottom lash line to elongate the eyes. For the lips we took  a light blush shade to finish off the look.

Arab Fashion Week Day 2

Look 5
Designer: Ilse Jara

A complete eye change for this look compared to Laura Macini. Eyeliner came off and the gold was packed on. We kept the base very light and clean with just a very slight bronze for a cheekbone contour but the  main focus was the eyes. We smashed heavy gold pigment from the top lashliene to the brows, smudging some vaseline on the lids as well for extra sheen.  Lips we took pinky nude colour and kept lips matte.  The hair stylist finished the look off by sweeping the hair back off the models face, this look is amazing on the catwalk as all the lights really shows the gold on the models eyes.

Quick Makeup Tips for Bridal Makeup on Oily Skin

You don’t have to give up makeup altogether just because you have oily skin. Knowing what compliments your skin type is important.Makeup Tips

These professional suggestions for applying makeup if you have an oily complexion come from a cosmetic professional and a
Lipstick Makeup Institute

You can check with your makeup artist on the following to see if they can accommodate them in your look.

Priming your skin is a must

Using a cosmetic primer will help your makeup remain in place if you have oily skin. We recommend a Oil Control Primer Or Pore Perfecting Primer. Apply it following a facial cleansing but before applying foundation, powder, or any other makeup.

Prepare your eyes
Eye Creases are one of the challenges for a nice eye makeup finish.
Use an eyelid-specific primer. This provided an ideal canvas for eye makeup and liner. Now you are ready to do any eye makeup.

Don’t use too much powder

Applying a lot of face powder seems like the appropriate move. But going too far could have the opposite effect by causing your pores to produce extra oil.
Only the shining portions should be covered with powder. Utilize a matte transparent product to reduce shine on all skin tones.
If you accidentally apply too much powder, dab it off with a moist makeup sponge.

Keep blotting sheets on hand

If you are prone to oiliness, your makeup will shine by lunchtime no matter how beautiful and matte it seems in the morning.
Some blotting papers only lift the oil from your skin.
Instead of rubbing the paper on your skin, the secret to using blotting papers without removing all of your makeup is to press it where your skin is oily and then roll it off.

Use non Comedogenic Products

After that invest in cosmetic items that are oil-free and noncomedogenic, which means they won’t clog your pores, because your skin already generates more oil than you need. Foundation and blush are two such products.

Generally use glycolic acid-infused face cleansers and toners as well, which reduce extra oil.

Try to find “long wear.” makeup.
Makeup may be made to smear, smudge, or slide by using water or oil. Stick to eye products that are waterproof, water-resistant, or long-wearing for this reason.

Consider soft, not slick, skin

When it comes to morning usage, gentler moisturizers that hydrate without being oily are preferable to those thick anti-aging treatments. A serum could be used. It is often lighter.

Remember to use sunscreen;
Chemical Sunscreens based out of avobenzone are a great pick as they dont give white cast, ideal for a makeup layer above this.

Also each skin type is distinct and has its own advantages and disadvantages.

So picking the finest makeup for an oily face and properly preparing the skin are the keys to getting your oily skin to stay covered by makeup. Use cosmetics that will limit the production of oil on your skin rather than drying ones. Using the tips and suggestions in this article, you may properly prepare your skin so that your makeup will last all day. So give them a try we’re confident your skin will thank you..

Choose Your Foundations For The Best Results This Season

Best ways to enhance your foundation to the season!

The foundation must be changed from season to season. Is it conceivable? The most straightforward response is no. However, the foundation you use in the winter is inappropriate for the season. It is preferable to have at least two distinct foundations for extreme cold and hot temperatures. Combining them will get the greatest results. .

The base is simple to match from season to season. If you’re looking for a solution to the question, “How can I alter my foundation from season to season?” you’ve come to the correct spot. Simply reading this post will provide you with the answers.

Make the base more watery

The most difficult challenge you confront is regulating moisture in your skin on sunny days. It is simple to incorporate a moisture-promoting chemical into the foundation.

To the foundation, add a few drops of your preferred moisturizer. You now have a foundation with a moisturizing and dewy finish. In chilly weather, the diluted moisture helps moisturize the skin.

Diluting foundation with moisturizer will allow your natural skin tone to shine through. In the summer, you may dilute the foundation with SPF. As a result, it will shield the skin from harmful UV rays.

Modify the application technique

To apply foundation, most individuals use their fingers, a sponge, or a brush. During a season change, there is a modest alteration in skin tone among sunscreen users. If you normally apply foundation with a brush, experiment with using your fingers. It only need a tiny amount of product. To blend out the foundation, use a wet sponge.

Choose your foundation

Using a little bit of foundation

The fashion industry is gravitating toward the no-makeup look. As a result, you must load on the foundation. When applying foundation, you may concentrate on the areas that need to be evened out. As a result, having a great appearance will be simple for you. It will also keep too many things off our shelves.

Choose Your Foundations & combine two colors of Foundations

Blend the foundation with a deeper color. Always remember that a darker foundation must be applied after a lighter one. Newer techniques combine two foundations of the same colour. After that combine the bright and dark foundations. It will provide you with a precise and superior foundation appearance while also improving your complexion.

Combine the foundation and bronzer

To make the light foundation more intense, combine it with some bronzer. It will provide the appearance of being sun-kissed while also deepening the shade. By applying it over the nose, chin, forehead, as well as cheeks, you can get a bronzer appearance for the entire face.

Conclusion

Foundations offers us a nice appearance. However, you must exercise caution while finding the best match for your skin tone. When applying foundation, it is critical to consider both your skin tone and undertone. You now understand how to alter your foundation from season to season.

Follow the ideas above to improve your appearance. Makeup generally not only includes only your face but also your hair, without proper hairdressing makeup will not finish. At last if you want a good hair course opt a hairdressing training at Lipstick Makeup Institute.
