Is It Your Foundation? Chemical SPFs found in foundation and concealers won’t cause flashback, but if they use the minerals Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide, then the probability of getting a bright white face is much more likely.

Or Is It Your Powder? By far your worst flashback enemy is silica – the culprit behind the celeb mishaps above. Silica is used mainly in HD powders (some translucent powders have it too), and its light-reflecting particles make it perfect for soaking up oil and blurring imperfections; giving you that flawless matte look that was created for film cameras. Alas, when the flash comes out it can result in harsh white patches that look far from fleeky. HD powders are different to setting powders, so it’s less likely the latter will be a problem, but still check for silica to be on the safe-side before a night out.

Makeup Mistake You Don’t Know

How to Avoid Flashback:

Foundation Fix: One option is to avoid using foundations with SPF at nighttime. You can also check the ingredients on your foundation; if it has SPF but no Titanium Dioxide or Zinc Oxide, you won’t need to worry about ghost face.

Steer Clear of Silica: If a powder lists silica in the ingredients there’s a very strong chance you’ll get flashback – especially if you bake with it! HD powders use silica because it’s silky smooth and makes your skin look poreless and beautiful, so, by all means, If you use the slightest amount, you could get away with it, but be sure to do a quick flash test before you leave the house.

Getting to know your eye shape is essential when you’re trying to elevate your makeup game. Of course, there’s no “one-size-fits-all” with makeup, but knowing what typically complements your eye shape can seriously level up the final look.

for hooded eyes, there’s typically less eyelid space to play with, so blending shadows up and outwards gives more depth to the lid space. Similarly, to elongate round eyes, you can play with dramatic wing styles to switch up your look.

Eyeshadow Tip #2: Perfect Your Blending Technique

Now that you have the tools, you need to level up your blending technique. Here are our top tips:

Mix eyeshadows: Don’t be afraid to mix and match eyeshadows on your brush to create a more harmonious look. Make sure you tap off any excess pigment before applying it to your lid to reduce fallout.

Pat, then blend: To create an even base, use a dense brush and pack the product onto the lid by gently pressing the powder onto the skin. Then blend it out using back-and-forth motions (think: windshield wipers).

Blend outwards: To lift the eye, drag the eyeshadow outwards, up towards the tail of the brow. This will create a subtle cat-eye effect, even without a winged liner.

Eyeshadow Tip #3: Don’t Forget the Lower Lash Line

A little eyeshadow on the outer corner of the lower lash line goes a long way. For an everyday look, use softer hues, like a soft brown, then opt for a deeper shade for a more dramatic look. Apply the shadow using a small dense brush, then blend out using a slightly larger, fluffier brush. You can also tight-line your lower lash line with a beige eyeliner pencil (white can be too harsh) to create the illusion of bigger eyes.

Eyeshadow Tip #4: Contour Your Lids with Eyeshadow

Regardless of the look you’re going for – from a natural look to a smokey eye – always define your crease by contouring your lid. You’ll add depth and definition to the eye by simply creating the illusion of a shadow in your crease. Start by taking an eyeshadow two to three shades deeper than your skin tone. Your bronzer shade will work perfectly. Pro tip: The secret is slowly building up the eyeshadow with a soft fluffy brush, using a back-and-forth motion.

Learn How to Snatch with Concealer: Concealer really is the G.O.A.T makeup product. Beyond its ability to conceal any blemishes and nix dark circles, it has snatching superpowers. When applied strategically and with the right shade, it brightens, lifts, and sculpts your complexion like no other. It’s just so creamy and buildable, plus it doesn’t crease.

The secret to snatching lies in the concealer shade and placement. Your snatch shade should be three to five shades lighter than your skin match. By heightening the contrast with your skin, it enhances the brightening while creating natural shadows that give a seriously sculpted final look.

To snatch, apply the concealer to the inner and outer corners of your eyes (extending out towards your temples), on the bridge of your nose, the outer corner of your mouth, and underneath your cheekbones. Always apply in an upward motion, and then blend using small tapping motions, following the same direction (upwards).

Cook Your Concealer for More Coverage

If you want to increase the coverage of any concealer, the trick is to cook with it. No, we don’t mean putting it in the oven. The technique refers to applying your concealer to the areas you want to target, then leaving it for between one to three minutes before you blend it out – experiment to see which timing works best with your formula and the level of coverage you want.

Essentially, this ‘drying’ time allows the concealer to start setting into your skin, which means that when you go to blend, it’s almost semi-dry and doesn’t disappear into your skin or blender. You want to catch it just before it completely sets so that you’re still able to blend it. It’s magical!

Now we will talk about the experience of one of our students here who took The Platinum Makeup Course at The Lipstick Make Up Institute who graduated last December 2016.

Javaria flew all over from Pakistan to enrol in our Institute. She started with zero knowledge in makeup.

At first she doesn’t know how to differentiate the difference between the shade of the foundation, what is the best suits the skin tone of one person. This is the most important step when applying make up.

All in all, the word itself, “foundation” really says it all. Like when building a house, if you have a good foundation then you can build on it successfully. Another simile is like a relationship. Start with a good foundation then this can be built on an and an amazing relationship can grow.

How we started

We started to show her the tools, different kinds of brushes. Then followed by the step by step on how to apply makeup starting from cleaning, toning and moisturising.

However. skin tone of a person is not easy for a beginner but if you have a passion and interest to learn it will come easy to determine just like what Javaria did.

She listens and observed very well to her teacher to achieve this kind of makeup for her models. Slowly day by day by doing makeup to her models she achieved different kinds of look from day time look to evening and glamorous look. And also the creative look which they enjoyed to do so much.

Steps :

1- Cleansing – we are using the LAQUA tonic

2- For a healthy glowing, dewy skin will use the Kryolan Vitacolor foundation and blend it with a sponge.

3- Our models undertones are warm to correct it will use a yellow corrector.

4- Contouring and highlighting with Kryolan Supracolors.

5- Set the foundation with white translucent powder.

6 Define and fill in the eyebrows with dark brown eye shadow.

7- Apply a base colour on the entire eyelid.

8- Contour the upper lash line with black eye shadow

9- For a perfect smokey look smudge the contours with dark brown eye shadow and define the crease lineStep 10 Apply a white gold highlighter under the eyebrows

11- Define the bottom lash line with black eye shadow and smudge it

12- For the absolute glamorous look apply micro pigments on the lid

13- Mascara on the bottom lash line

14 – Apply the blush and highlighter

15 – Lipstick application
