Well, it is always fun to learn at the Make up institute but especially when its a creative special effects day.

Our student chose our make up school as she did here research from South Africa and decided that we were the best make up school in Dubai to teach her all that she wants to know and she was absolutely right.

The daily task was to to make a relatively young person old and just take a look at the results.

Using the best makeup in our opinion, Kryolan , you can actually do anything. Once you learn the techniques then the make up will allow yo to explore the possibilities of your talent and give you the freedom to push yourself to the limits.

I am sure you agree that the results are great. All our photos are shot by our sister photography studio, YH Studios DXB. Hi Everyone!

Well here we are again doing what we love and being crazy in the studio, having fun whilst creating the zombie and old age look on the run up to Halloween when all the goals come out and the broomsticks!! ha ha

We have collected over the years all the facts and tips that we need to create theses looks and thats what make us one if the best make up schools in Dubai.

We all remember the days when everyone dressed up as of vampires to of to fancy dress but zombies are even more exciting as there are no rules, you can have as many cuts and scars as you like. There is no format to applying zombie make up.

Every Sunday we have teamed up with Nikki Beach Dubai and we celebrate, “Amazing Sundays”. The 20 minutes Cocktail Makeup look

You might ask “Cocktail Makeup”?

What is that?

It’s a perfect makeup look for your business dinners, weddings that starts in the morning time and any other occasion you want to look a bit more made up than the daytime loo but less than an evening look.

Lets see the steps:

Clean snd refresh your face before applying the foundation. You can use simple wet wipes to clean your face and toner to refresh it.
Apply your favourite foundation. The coverage for the cocktail makeup is from light to medium. Still not full. Keep it soft and don’t cake it up let it glow.
When it comes to contours and highlights if you are not a contouring freak keep it light. You don’t need layers and layers on your face for a cocktail makeup.
Set your foundation and the whole base with a thin layer of a loose powder. Don’t use compacts as your 3rd step. Leave the skin open and don’t powder it up with the compacts. They are the best for touch ups.
Fill up your eyebrows with a 3 shade lighter eye shadow than your brow colour.
Apply a base colour on your eyelid. The base colour is close to your skin colour.
Take your blending brush and swipe a medium brown colour in your crease line.
Take a black eyeshadow and dab a touch of it in your outer corners of the eyes.
Take a peach eyeshadow and with your blending brush softly blend in some colour above that medium brown to soften the transition between these colours.
Take your flat brush and apply a gold shine white eyeshadow under your eyebrows to highlight the eyes.
Take your angled brush wet it and with a black eyeshadow line your upper and bottom lash line.
Take your smudge brush and with a dark brown eyeshadow smudge this black line to smoothen it.
Apply 2 layers of mascara
Apply peachy blusher on your cheekbones and soften it with light orange highlighter.
Apply rosy-brown lipliner and fill up your lips with a same rose- brown lipstick add a touch of a clear gloss on the top of the lipstick and you are good to go!

The colour combination will change regarding your clothes of course.

Cocktail Makeup

It’s fun to get all glammed up every now and again, and what better way to do just that than with a makeover made JUST for cocktail parties. We teamed up with our fast beauty pals KRYOLAN.

Finding the dress is the easy part. Deciding what makeup to team with it? One big headache. Red lip, nude lip, eye liner, no eyeliner, the party prep dilemmas are endless!

Here’s how to create a celeb worthy cocktail look in 20 minutes flat. They don’t call it fast beauty for nothing!

How to get the cocktail look:

1. Cleanse the skin, then instantly moisturize and prime with ultimate makeup prep.

2. Use a brush to apply foundation and dab concealer under eyes or on any blemishes.

3. Cover the entire eye area up to the brow bone with shimmering cream eye shadow.

4. Create a fast, feline flick with liquid liner pen.

5. Apply mascara starting at the base of the lashes and jiggling up.

6. For definition, apply bronzing powder to apples of cheeks and sweep to the temples.

7. Finish look by filling in brows with a brow pencil and a slick of lip gloss on the lips

Daytime eye makeup

Daytime eye makeup

The daytime eye makeup will be light, soft and refreshing.

Most of the time we are using neutral colours like beige, cream, champagne, grey and brown.

Use just a touch of makeup on your eyes.

You don’t want to be over the top. Its just a simple daytime look.

Use matte colours they look more settled than the shiny ones.

Keep it soft and simple

Don’t forget the less is always more!

If you want to go with just a bit of makeup you can:

-apply a base colour on your eyelid – cream or beige and apply one layer of mascara

-for a bit of a different appearance apply a base colour on your eye lid and a dark brown colour close to your lash line it will look like you have an eye liner but at the same time it will look very soft

– in case you lie to experiment with different application techniques do the following :

apply a base colour on your eye lid – beige colour

take a middle brown eyeshadow and define your crease line

take a darker brown and apply a thin line close to your lash line

apply two layers of mascara

These are simple tips to make your eyes look fresh and pretty.

Tricks and tips on how to do Ombre Lips

Hi there! Today we will talk about how to create and define ombre lipstick!

Ombre means having two different colours that are monochromatic.

Ombre isn’t just for your hair! The sexy, ombré lip look is one you’re going to want to wear always, and shout to the world about it. Be creative and bold with your makeup and try out this ombre lip look.

Ombre lips can look awesome, but if not done correctly they can make you look very tacky! The secret to doing ombre lips is to first try it out with your regular lip colors. Play around with different hues that merge well together and once you are satisfied with the results only then step out into the open.

Step by Step Ombre Lips:

Apply concealer over your lips to hide the natural colour.

Use the dark lip liner to create a line around the edge of your lips as you would normally. Add more of this dark colour lip liner to the corner of your lips bringing this dark colour in towards the middle, but do not colour all of your lips with this shade. You can also extend this line and thicken it at the top and bottom of your lip if you wish.

Apply your pale colour to the middle of your lips that do not have the darker lip liner on them. Press your lips together once or twice but do not smear the colours together by rubbing your lips side to side or back and forth. Simply press your lips together and pull apart again in one smooth motion.

At this stage you can use your lip brush or cotton bud to blend the edges of your colours together to create a fading effect.

Glossy VS Matte

Yesterday we were talking about the luscious, glossy lips.

Today’s topic is The Velvety Matte Lips.

The matte lips can be tricky.

Why?

Because if your lips are dry and cracked the matte lipstick will look really bad and cheap.

The same rules are on when you are prepping the lips for the matte lipstick.

use a scrub to remove the dead skin
lip balm or vaseline is a must
remove the lip balm and make sure your lips are product free
apply a bit of concealer to make sure your lipstick will last all night long
apply lipliner! Its essential, because it defines the lips, you can be more precise and making your lipstick long lasting.
fill up the lips with your matte lipstick. Use a lip brush in this case you will be more precise with lines and the lipstick will look rich and full. Also the lipstick will last more longer. Do long and clean strokes with your lip brush. The texture of the matte lipsticks are more dry then the creamy ones its obvious because of the matte finish. We can suggest you the new Kryolan Matte Lipsticks. They are giving you the perfect matte velvety finish but at the same time the texture is not so dry.

Now it’s time to get on practicing.

The more you practice the better you will be in application the right lipstick colour and your lips will be perfectly defined.

Lipgloss when and where to wear it!

Glossy lips yes or no?

Some girls simply love shiny and glossy lips – and lip gloss is their best friend! But overdoing the lip gloss can give a tacky effect. So, today we will show you how to perfectly use a lip gloss to get pretty, pouty, kissable lips.

Some of our friends are crazy about matte lips.

Is there the right occasion to wear gloss? or we can wear it anytime?

The answer is Yes!

There are some different occasions when its the best to wear gloss and when its better to keep it semi matte or matte.

When is it?

Daytime – for daytime look you can use only a gloss just keep it natural.
For photo shoots if the concept is not saying to use matte lipstick you can always go for glossy, shiny lips.
If you just like your lips to be shiny and glossy you can always go for the gloss.

When is not the best to use it?

On corporate photoshoots
When you want your lips to look smaller
You just don’t like glossy lips

Things You Need

1. Lip Scrub
2. Lip Balm/Lip Conditioner
3. Lip Liner
4. Lipstick
5. Lip gloss

What is important before we are starting with the lip gloss application?

Make sure you don’t have any dead skin on your lips. Start by prepping your lips. If you have dead skin cells or chapped/cracked lips, then scrub your lips before you start prepping. Massage the lip scrub all over your lips for about two to three minutes. Rinse it off.

2. The next step is to use a lip balm or lip conditioner to get rid of the dryness. It will make your lips more soft and supple. Let the lip balm rest on the lips for about one to two minutes.

3.Once you are done with applying the lip balm, take a tissue and blot the excess. This prevents the lipstick from bleeding and makes the application of the other products easier.

4.Start by analyzing your lip shape. Using a lip pencil in the color of your choice, start the application from the center of the upper lip and follow the natural lip line till the corners of the lip. Follow the same procedure with the lower lip. You can also fill the entire lip with the same lip pencil as that works as a great base and helps the lip color to stay put for longer. Refer to the picture above.

5.Quick tip

You can also apply a little bit of foundation/concealer in the shade that matches your natural lip color. This would even out the lips in one go and provide an even base to work on.

6.Now it’s time for the lipstick. Apply the lipstick with a lip brush using short strokes and fill the entire lips. Using a brush while applying lipstick adds precision to the application. Here, I have used a bright red lipstick.

7.Start applying the lip gloss from the center of the lips and drag the sponge applicator along the length of the lips. Avoid applying the gloss above the natural lip line. You can blot the excess lip gloss on a tissue paper. This will prevent the color from bleeding.
