What a week so far, day 3 of Arab Fashion Week. The Lipstick Make Up Institute Teams are always hard at work. Behind the scenes making sure everything runs smoothly.

Working with International Models flown in from all over the world. Brazil, Italy, Switzerland, Russia and lots of places.

What a pleasure to work with such professionals.

Just amazing, all the Lipstick Teams loved it. We had major support from everyone. Feel so lucky and proud. after this event we can do anything in the world. Its on par with New York, Milan and London Fashion Weeks.

We are always so proud that students travel across the globe to choose our make up institute over any other to to teach them the skills that they need to advance them into the world of Make Up.

I am always flattered when I ask them, How did you find us”? and they say that they google, “Make Up Schools in Dubai” and they looked at what all the schools had to offer and they like the look of our website, our testimonials, the work that we do and they see what the students are achieving and we are far ahead of any other make up institute. It means that we have done our job well.

Its not just a business but its our life and we just love it.

This is such a great advantage for the students to have such images in their portfolio as believe e when i tell you that I have interviewed over 60 make Up Artists and no one! has any professional images. I advertised for a “teacher” and one applicant sent me face cards, I couldn’t understand this at all. Unreal.

I know how important it is to have a portfolio and a diary of your achievements. I have been a photographer for 28 years so I really do know the value of a portfolio and thats why when we were comprising the courses it was imperative that we incorporated professional photographs for the students portfolios.

Well, it is always fun to learn at the Make up institute but especially when its a creative special effects day.

Our student chose our make up school as she did here research from South Africa and decided that we were the best make up school in Dubai to teach her all that she wants to know and she was absolutely right.

The daily task was to to make a relatively young person old and just take a look at the results.

Using the best makeup in our opinion, Kryolan , you can actually do anything. Once you learn the techniques then the make up will allow yo to explore the possibilities of your talent and give you the freedom to push yourself to the limits.

I am sure you agree that the results are great. All our photos are shot by our sister photography studio, YH Studios DXB. They have been here for 4 years and are the prefect partner for a make up school. In fact, I don’t know how the school would be without it. Everyone make up school should have one. The results of any make up lesson need to be recorded and thats what YH Studios does. Well here we are again doing what we love and being crazy in the studio, having fun whilst creating the zombie and old age look on the run up to Halloween when all the goals come out and the broomsticks!! ha ha

We have collected over the years all the facts and tips that we need to create theses looks and thats what make us one if the best make up schools in Dubai.

We all remember the days when everyone dressed up as of vampires to of to fancy dress but zombies are even more exciting as there are no rules, you can have as many cuts and scars as you like. There is no format to applying zombie make up.

You have to apply the first few rules and get a great base using the latex in a fashion that will create a long lasting bespoke look.

The 20 minutes Cocktail Makeup look

You might ask “Cocktail Makeup”?

What is that?

It’s a perfect makeup look for your business dinners, weddings that starts in the morning time and any other occasion you want to look a bit more made up than the daytime loo but less than an evening look.

Lets see the steps:

Clean snd refresh your face before applying the foundation. You can use simple wet wipes to clean your face and toner to refresh it.
Apply your favourite foundation. The coverage for the cocktail makeup is from light to medium. Still not full. Keep it soft and don’t cake it up let it glow.
When it comes to contours and highlights if you are not a contouring freak keep it light. You don’t need layers and layers on your face for a cocktail makeup.
Set your foundation and the whole base with a thin layer of a loose powder. Don’t use compacts as your 3rd step. Leave the skin open and don’t powder it up with the compacts. They are the best for touch ups.
Fill up your eyebrows with a 3 shade lighter eye shadow than your brow colour.
Apply a base colour on your eyelid. The base colour is close to your skin colour.
Take your blending brush and swipe a medium brown colour in your crease line.
Take a black eyeshadow and dab a touch of it in your outer corners of the eyes.
Take a peach eyeshadow and with your blending brush softly blend in some colour above that medium brown to soften the transition between these colours.
Take your flat brush and apply a gold shine white eyeshadow under your eyebrows to highlight the eyes.
Take your angled brush wet it and with a black eyeshadow line your upper and bottom lash line.
Take your smudge brush and with a dark brown eyeshadow smudge this black line to smoothen it.
Apply 2 layers of mascara
Apply peachy blusher on your cheekbones and soften it with light orange highlighter.
Apply rosy-brown lipliner and fill up your lips with a same rose- brown lipstick add a touch of a clear gloss on the top of the lipstick and you are good to go!

The colour combination will change regarding your clothes of course.

It’s fun to get all glammed up every now and again, and what better way to do just that than with a makeover made JUST for cocktail parties. We teamed up with our fast beauty pals KRYOLAN.

Finding the dress is the easy part. Deciding what makeup to team with it? One big headache. Red lip, nude lip, eye liner, no eyeliner, the party prep dilemmas are endless!

Here’s how to create a celeb worthy cocktail look in 20 minutes flat. They don’t call it fast beauty for nothing!

How to get the cocktail look:

1. Cleanse the skin, then instantly moisturize and prime with ultimate makeup prep.

2. Use a brush to apply foundation and dab concealer under eyes or on any blemishes.

3. Cover the entire eye area up to the brow bone with shimmering cream eye shadow.

4. Create a fast, feline flick with liquid liner pen.

5. Apply mascara starting at the base of the lashes and jiggling up.

6. For definition, apply bronzing powder to apples of cheeks and sweep to the temples.

7. Finish look by filling in brows with a brow pencil and a slick of lip gloss on the lips

Daytime eye makeup

Daytime eye makeup

The daytime eye makeup will be light, soft and refreshing.

Most of the time we are using neutral colours like beige, cream, champagne, grey and brown.

Use just a touch of makeup on your eyes.

You don’t want to be over the top. Its just a simple daytime look.

Use matte colours they look more settled than the shiny ones.

Keep it soft and simple

Don’t forget the less is always more!

If you want to go with just a bit of makeup you can:

-apply a base colour on your eyelid – cream or beige and apply one layer of mascara

-for a bit of a different appearance apply a base colour on your eye lid and a dark brown colour close to your lash line it will look like you have an eye liner but at the same time it will look very soft

– in case you lie to experiment with different application techniques do the following :

apply a base colour on your eye lid – beige colour

take a middle brown eyeshadow and define your crease line

take a darker brown and apply a thin line close to your lash line

apply two layers of mascara

These are simple tips to make your eyes look fresh and pretty.
