BBC Documentary at the Lipstick Makeup Institute

BBC Ireland passed by our makeup institute a couple of days ago to do an interview with Yasmin Hussain the founder of YH Studios and The Lipstick Makeup Institute.

BBC Ireland passed by the other day to do a documentary with Yasmin for a TV show. The shoot was was scheduled for two days in YH Studios, The Lipstick Makeup Institute and the Arab Fashion Council Headquarters.

They were able to feature some of our students working on their models and had an interview with Jacob Abrian, the CEO and Founder of the Arab Fashion Council.

The BBC crew were able to film our teachers, students and graduates while working on our models in the hour-long documentary.

They talked about how the students and graduates are very much involved during and after their courses finish. This is very evident with the fact that we bring them to different events and photoshoots. This is also great for them to have exposure for their careers as makeup artists. It is a blessing to have wonderful and talented students that are so hard working.

They toured around the facilities and showcased our new location at City Walk 2. We wanted to make sure that people know that we’ve moved from Media City and is now in a better area at the heart of Dubai.

The BBC crew also showcased Ms. Yasmin Hussain on the job while she photographed Max Fardan.

At the end of the day, we are so grateful and honoured to be featured internationally by BBC. It’s not everyday that we get this type of exposure and we are so excited to watch it.

Trunk Show at 1422

Trunk Show at 1422 – A new season, a new collection. The Arab Fashion Council will be holding another trunk show together with The Lipstick Makeup Institute Team. It will be held in the Arab Fashion Council Head Quarters in City Walk.

Trunk Show at 1422 – Our team is doing makeup for the trunk show with the Arab Fashion Council. We are very excited about this. Our team will be backstage taking care of the models before the show. Making sure that they’re ready before they walk out clad in beautiful garments made by world class designers from the region. As the official backstage makeup team, we strive to showcase our talents and skills no matter how big or small the event is.

We’ll be using the cosmetic products provided to us by Makeup Forever Middle East. They have been gracious enough to sponsor our Institute with their amazing products.

Also, if you haven’t read our previous blog, we mentioned that we’re having a crash course on the Professional Platinum Media Makeup Diploma Course. We’re holding this course for three weeks intensively – like a boot camp. The students who will be joining this course will be receiving the benefits of the Platinum Media Makeup Diploma Course. They will be receiving the Platinum Diploma and will be completely certified, discounts from various professional brands like Makeup Forever, Grimas, Kryolan and others. Final Week of the Platinum Makeup Course

Final week of the Professional Platinum Media Makeup Diploma Course. We’re down to the last topic of the course which is Creative Makeup.

Final Creative makeup, we teach basics of using different mediums such as cream coloured makeup, water based makeup (face paint), body painting and how to stick materials to the skin without damaging it. Special FX week with the Lipstick Students is always a week that our students look forward to in their Platinum Makeup Course.

Our students get to explore the power of makeup in its full potential by transforming their models from normal to something out of the ordinary. With special fx makeup, the sky is the limit! You can turn people into monsters, faeries, and different characters. The possibilities are endless and all you need is your imagination.

You can also use this method in creating bruises and wounds. Here are a few samples of our students works for this week:

Apart from the course, our former students are out on a paid job for 4 days at a distinguished and high class location in Dubai doing Special Effects and Halloween Makeup for 30 staff members.

Like we always say, we never leave our students. We always give them jobs after they have graduated from our Institute. This sets us apart from other Institutes in Dubai. We make sure that our students are in the loop with any projects that we have. Especially now that we’re part of the Arab Fashion Council, we have more special jobs for our graduates.

Our institute always aims to give our students the chance to hone their skills by giving them projects even after their studies with us. We always remind our students that learning doesn’t end in school. It starts as you work. Gaining experience is hard if you don’t know where to look — especially paid jobs.

Bulgari Hotel with TLMI

9th of August, 2019, we had a client at Bulgari Hotels & Resorts Dubai. With our efforts to help our student practice their skills, we brought one of our students to the hotel. Our students have been taking the Platinum Makeup Course for 5 weeks now and they’re about to finish the course this week.

We brought her for a photoshoot with one of our VIP Clients who came all the way from Malaysia for their Wedding Anniversary at the Bulgari Hotels & Resorts. Together with the YH Studios Team and the Head Teacher of The Lipstick Makeup Institute, our student was able to create a glam look on the client.

For the past 5 weeks that she was with us, she has learned how to properly create a full look on different skin types, skin tones, and different eye shapes. We’ve given them tasks that would hone their skills for their upcoming career as a professional makeup artist.

The past 5 weeks, they’ve been put in situations like professional photoshoots for magazines and fashion shows. In makeup, skills are not the only important thing but also character building and ethics and how you present yourself as a makeup artist on set.

In Bulgari Hotels and Resorts with our VIP Clients, we were able to present our student to the guests as professional as possible. They were very happy with the results of the shoot and enjoyed the whole experience.

As for our student, she has gained experience and confidence by working with real-life clients which is not available in other makeup institutes. Of course, it is with the guidance of our head teachers from The Lipstick Makeup Institute.

We Made History with School Photography

We made history with School Photography Aflec International School, Dubai.

Our sister company YH Studios. Which is in our same studio space next door, started the year with a BANG and making history. It started out as a concept and now, we’re finally doing it. Lots of planning, time and a lot of caffeine were consumed to put this event into fruition.

We’ve taken on a new designed project where both YH Studios and The Lipstick Makeup Institute – Revolutionised the way we do school photography.

For the first time in photography history, the so called “Normal” way School photography has been done in so many different ways but never in The YH Studiosand The Lipstick Makeup Institute way.

We took it to another level. Our level!! Stylish, contemporary and every so sophisticated and exciting for the kids and the staff.

We made an ordinary shoot into a mini fashion shoot for each child. This has never ever been done before. As a fact, we are the first!

Super cool days at Aflec. — Getting Ready for Action!

This is what we thrive on at YH studios. We aim to be different. It was well received. A few parents a little sceptical as its a new concept. But in the whole a very well received idea.

I just thought that most school pictures all the kids hair is so messy. they had been running around all day at playtime. Playing football or doing PE.

So, The Lipstick makeup Institute Team prepared all the children with an exception of a few ready for their school photos. Ready for The YH Studios DXB Team to take their pictures.

I also came up with the idea that each child could do a shot called ” The Personality” shot. This is where they brought something that meant something to them For example, a hat , a toy or jacket etc.

This worked out so well as the kids loved it and we made it fun for them.
