Wknd Khaleej Times Mag Nude makeup

We are really honoured to be interviewed by the wknd khaleej times magazine. We gave a tutorial on achieving the no makeup look , The way we teach at The Lipstick Makeup Institute  which  is the trend now in Dubai and around the whole world . How to achieve this gorgeous look ? This is the question everyone into fashion and beauty is asking. Its not as easy as you think.  The lipstick makeup institute expert gave a step by step beauty  tutorial to answer all about this new makeup trend . Here is our tutorial  steps and makeup tips  to our beautiful ladies in dubai and the lipstick makeup institute lovers . Here are the STEPS below in print.   1 - cleansing , toning and moisturising which is the most important step . 2 - Its so important to find the perfect foundation for your skin tone. You can even   blend another foundation lighter or darker to get an effortlessy natural glow. Our skin colour changes constantly. A bit of sun and we are a shade darker. We must compensate for this. 3 - You can blend the foundation well with a wet sponge or a brush. You must blend it in well though so its almost invisible. This is the sign of good foundation. 4 - You should contour under the cheekbone , jawline , chin, temples and nose. This will  lightly to give defention to your features . 5 - apply correctors to even out the dark circles , then highlight the centre of chin , under eyes and top of cheekbones with a cream highlighter . 6 - in order to set the base use loose or translucent powder and blend it with a brush . this will ensure a matte finish . 7 - run a brush through your eyebrows and highlight with a shade that is at least three or four lighter than your eyeshadow . this is to give a gentle defention . 8 - apply an eyeshadow over your eyes . start with a lighter base and move on to a darker shade . 9 - take an angular brush dab it on a darker shade that complements the eyeshadow and apply it on top of your eyes , smudge it later with the brush ( you could avoid eyeliner completly ) . 10 - for mascaras you can choose to apply a combination one for length the other for volume . 11 - to give your lower eyeline  just the right amount of definition apply a beige liner and for a night time look you could substitute with a white liner . 12 - for blush go for soft colours like peaches or oranges and for a night look you could use a bronzer or dark pinks depending on the lipstick you are wearing . 13 - apply a lipliner for lipstick , go for glossy ,understated colours in this case its rosy , brown avoid mattes .   Its so easy once you know how and follow instructions.   Long gone now are the days when we paste the make up and have rosy cheeks and seriously contoured cheekbones. Less is more as they say.   Please have a look at the pictures below and see our gorgeous model, Clementine Harriett transformed. She is beautiful anyway but glows with our expert makeup and Kryolan make up. First Day of Arab Fashion Week

What a great start to Arab Fashion Week, The lipstick Make up Teams are showing Dubai just how good they are. We have such great support. Brown Sugar Hair Salon, Wisam Nour Hair Salon are our amazing partners. We are so grateful that we all come together and work like dream teams. We are definitely rocking the back stage.   here is a sneak preview at what happens behind the scenes.   Great models, great organisation, feeling very happy.   A quiet day though in comparison to what is going to happen over the next 4 days. Hold on guy ha   Look at our name up high on the board. Yes we are on our way!!   Being part of a great team is so much better than going solo. Its healthy, supportive and even parts relaxing as you know that we are all there to support each other.   Like the first show today, 40 children aaaaah ha , all for hair, pigtails, grungy and a bit of blusher and lip gloss.   So cute, kids on the catwalk is just so sweet.   Also is a wonderful pictures of amazing lamya Abedin. Just a bespoke wonderful designer and a woman too. A great representative of the females of this world taking it by storm .   img_4289 img_4291 img_4293 img_4294 img_4295 img_4306 img_4320 img_4321 img_4322 img_4324 img_4326 img_4327 img_4328 img_4329 img_4330 img_4331 img_4332 img_4333

Another Successful Make Up Student

We are always so proud that students travel across the globe to choose our make up institute over any other to to teach them the skills that they need to advance them into the world of Make Up.   I am always flattered when I ask them, How did you find us"? and they say that they google, "Make Up Schools in Dubai" and they looked at what all the schools had to offer and they like the look of our website, our testimonials, the work that we do and they see what the students are achieving and we are far ahead of any other make up institute. It means that we have done our job well.   The reason that we achieved this is because we opened the make up Institute because we are passionate about it and this is the most apparent attribute and this is clear for anyone to see.   Its not just a business but its our life and we just love it.    I am not just saying it but our students feel at home here and get really sad when their courses are over as we do. Once you leave the Institute we don't forget you though. We keep in touch with our students and try to involve them in our Fashion Shows and any event we can. We really do care about our students. They become a part of  our small family here.   The other great attribute that puts Our Make up institute better than any other in Dubai is that we have a sister company, YH Studios DXB and all our students get professional images for their portfolio, how many depends on what course they have chosen   This is such a great advantage for the students to have such images in their portfolio as believe e when i tell you that I have interviewed over 60 make Up Artists and no one! has any professional images. I advertised for a "teacher" and one applicant sent me face cards, I couldn't understand this at all. I asked her that all the years she claims to be a make up artist and have taught for so may years yet she send me , Face Charts. Unreal.   I know how important it is to have a portfolio and a  diary of your achievements. I have been a photographer for 28 years so I really do know the value of a portfolio and thats why when we were  comprising the courses it was imperative that we incorporated professional photographs for the students portfolios.   Here are the results of one of our students who has just finished a 3 Day Bronze Course.   Amazing pictures with great talent. img_4040 Bronze 1 Bronze 2

Free Creative Demonstration Day

Here at Lipstick we always love to keep the team spirit going and keep the teams as tight as possible and learn together. You can always advance yourself in any are of make up. Contouring is really popular right now but what make up artists can learn more from is the creative applications. This is all covered in Our Platinum Course that lasts for 6 weeks and you also leave with an International Diploma that will carry you through to start your journey  into the world of Make Up. We teach you not only how to apply make up but teach you to open your mind to the endless possibilities that you can do with make up and the amazing unique effects that can be produced. Please just come in and see us to discuss anything or just for advice, we are always here to help and love to talk! Especially Liv about make up, she can talk for England. Talk about passion, this girl was born with a mascara in her hand I think. I have never known anyone be so passionate about a shade of eye shadow or lipstick! Once we went to a company to discuss using their Hollywood products in the school before we eventually decided on Kryolan, there was never really any competition with really but we had to be open to suggestions. They showed us some  samples and I had to leave her there as it was just not exciting enough for me, 3,5 hours later she calls me to pick her up! So that Liv, The Eurasian Number one in the world for Fashion Hair And Make Up. Liv is our main teacher in the school so you will be taught by the best to be the best!. This is why all the girls love the demonstrations and they learn so much from it. Call us on +971 52 83 49964 Here are some shots of the Demonstrations today. The girls get up close to watch each and every stroke. IMG_1404 IMG_1405 IMG_1406 IMG_1407 IMG_1408 IMG_1409

How to behave on a makeup appointment

Maryland-makeup-artist-dc-kelley-unthank-weddings I think this topic is a big question all the time! First of all we make up artists are human beings like you clients. We have feelings like anyone else and also like respect and appreciation. We are not plastic surgeons and robots! Why I'm telling this? Because most of the clients are not clear with the realistic expectations. What makeup can do and what not? Lets clear up why are we using makeup? We are talking about classical glamorous looks. We are applying makeup to enhance the natural beauty of the face and correct the imperfections! Thats it easy and simple. The makeup will not make you look like Kim Kardashian or Jennifer Lopez or who ever.... You don't want to hide behind a mask created of foundation. And of course much more!! Unfortunately nowadays we are facing these unrealistic expectations. And what will happen at the end you will get a "bad makeup artist" reputation because you can't make a Kim from everyone. Well  ladies just to inform you this is not working like that. First of all you need to be clear with yourself what is possible to bring out from your face and what not. You don't know it? Thats why we are here ... the professional makeup artists! Lets start with some tips how to behave on a makeup appointment:
  1. You know that you are going for a makeup appointment so PLEASE DONT WEAR MAKEUP! And now you're asking why? All of us want happy clients happy client equals happy makeup artist! The makeup will be perfect on a clean face and thats why there is no point of applying makeup for the makeup appointment. Anyway the makeup artist will clean up your  face and of course the mascara is a nightmare to clean up and after reapplying again. So make our lives easier and come with clean and moisturised face for your appointment.
2. Research your artists work before you book an appointment! As i said before we are all human beings with feelings. Bad comments and judging before even starting the makeup on your face is really painful for us! As for anyone else. If you know the artists work and you book an appointment with her or him you can be sure that you are in good hands and you dont have to judge or question every single move what she or he is doing! 3. Don't be late! If you are booked in at 2pm please be there at 2pm. Not 1.45 or 2.30 or other time. We are working on time...and time is a very precious thing. Being late is not a condition its a choice. All of us we know the conditions of the traffic, time, etc... so be prepared and be on time please! 4. Give time for the makeup You are late and now you are rushing your artist to do a magic on your face for 15 minutes. Im really sorry ladies but this doesn't work like this. A good work needs time. If you know that you will require a glamorous and complicated makeup don't expect to be ready in 15 minutes! 5. Don't judge the makeup from a foundation! The makeup in process can't be judge. All of us, artists we have a different style of application. What you do at home in your bathroom, or watching you tube videos is one thing. The other is when you go to a professional and she or he will do your makeup. It will look different and its absolutely normal! 6. When we say close your eyes that means close it and don't open till we say open. Opening your eyes can destroy the texture of the eyeshadows especially if we are working with Aqua (watercolours). So please follow the instructions of the artist. We know exactly what we are doing! 7. Trust  your artist In my opinion this is one of the most important factors in this relationship. Without trust you will destroy the artists life and experience, as well as yours also. No one wants to leave the makeup appointment with bad feeling, terrible experience and even tears in eyes. To avoid this discuss with your artist the desired look, the occasion, dress, style everything so there won't be any misunderstanding and disappointment. 8. Relax and enjoy The makeup application should be a nice and relaxing experience. All you need to do is to sit, relax and enjoy. The rest is on us! Makeup-Blog-Makeup-Hygiene-No-nos-Career-As-a-Makeup-Artist-Applying-Lipstick-with-Makeup-Brush 9. You asked for the price. And you got it. The following question: No discount? or What is your last price? Dear ladies that makeup artist paid for her studies, paid so much money for her makeup set and brushes. Energy, time and experience. All this and most of the time we are talking about discounts and last price. Please respect our work and effort! We are working hard to make you look the best as you can. Asking for discounts all the time and saving money on the makeup makes our work less important and not respected. 10. We often hear this: "Ahh its just makeup i will do mine " or "Why is it so expensive i just want a simple makeup?" To answer the first question: Whatever you do, wherever you go the first thing you will check on the others is THE FACE! Not the dress, shoes, accessories, hair etc... but THE Face! When you talk to the people they will look at your face as they are talking to you... not to your dress or hair! On your wedding you are the center of attention so you want to make sure that you look absolutely perfect! So start from your face with a perfect MAKE Up! The answer to the second question is doesn't matter how simple makeup you want it still takes all the steps...foundation, corrector, concealer, powder, eyebrows, eye shadows, mascara, blusher and lipstick. The difference is between the application technique and intensity in colours, but we are still using the same products and doing the same steps. So thats why you are paying the much money even its a simple look. 11. Using mobile phones while you are getting your makeup done Absolutely no! Everyone can live without a phone for maximum 1 hour. Using phones, taking selfies while doing the makeup is not only annoying for the artist but makes our job really difficult. Let us do our job and after the makeup you can take really good selfies with your beautiful makeup  on! No OFFENCE to anyone... this is just the 17 years experience and the every day happening in this makeup artist life. These are just simple tips how make our lives easier and to make sure both sides are happy and satisfied. Backstage-Beauty-10-Best-Makeup-Tips-Weve-Heard

Lipstick do’s and don’t

Lipstick is an essential part of almost every woman’s daily makeup routine. However, many women shy away from the red tones they find in the cosmetic aisle. Fortunately, you can pull off those brave shades with a little lipstick know-how. Here are ten dos and don’ts of wearing red lipstick:   images-1   1. WEAR DARKER FOUNDATION. If you’re going to go bold with your lip color, you’ve got to have a complementary backdrop for your face. For those with lighter skin tones, it’s a good idea to choose foundations that will provide darker, olive bases. Red lips can be too much of a contrast against pale skin. The darker your lips are, the darker your foundation should be. 2.DON’T BE AFRAID TO BLEND COLOURS. Do you like the look of red lipstick, but think it might be too loud for you? There’s an easy solution: customize your shade. Simply take a lighter hue like coral or mauve and blend it with that rose or burgundy you’ve been eyeing. The result will be a more muted tone that nearly anyone will be comfortable wearing. 3. USE IT FOR THE RIGHT OCCASION. While everyone loves red, luscious lips, the look isn’t appropriate for every social situation. Some of the deeper shades can be a little jarring to people you run into at the gym or the kids’ soccer game. Likewise, you want everyone to be listening to your business proposal at that morning office meeting, not staring at your lips. Only paint your kisser red when you know you’re dealing with a fun, playful atmosphere, such as a night out with the girls. Then, you’ll be one step ahead in painting the town red! 4. DON’T OVER DO IT. If you want to avoid all the lipstick smudges and stains, you can start by only applying a light coating to your lips. This is especially important for red lipstick since it’s easier to spot on teeth and collars. Rolling once or twice around your lips should be sufficient to achieve the desired effect. For even more control of your coverage, spread the lipstick using a lip brush. Just remember that a little dab will do you.   _MG_4759   Thank you! for your time on reading the tips and tricks for today! Tomorrow we will talk about the lipgloss when and where to wear it!

Moisturising the Lips

Hi everyone today we will talk about lips, here are the first thing to do is to moisturised your lips:
Lips!
1
Exfoliate your lips. Mix together petroleum jelly (such as Vaseline), sugar and honey; Rub your lips with the mixture for 2-3 minutes later. Gently wipe the mixture from your lips with a clean, damp washcloth.
2
Next, apply a lip balm (such as Blistex or Carmex) to your lips. Don't use flavored or scented lip balms because that will just make you lick your lips which will cause dryness.
3
Drink water. Water keeps lips moisturized. Your lips need moisture. Not only is water good for your lips but it is good for most everything in the human body. You should try drinking 8 glasses of water every day depending on your age.
4
Don't pick your chapped lips. This will only make them sore, and even more dry. Making your lips dry and sore will slow down the moisture process. Also if you peel the skin off them it hurts and burns when you apply lip balm. Sometimes it even bleeds!
5
Don't lick your lips. In fact, don't even rub your lips together unless there is lip balm on them, don't bite them, or rub your teeth against them. Not only does this dry out your lips, it even makes them bigger. Trust me that's not very pretty!
6
Stay away from sticky foods. Sticky foods will make your lips rub against each other and stick together, damaging and drying out your lips.
7
Overnight, apply a heavy coat of lip balm to your lips. The next morning your lips will be moisturized and smooth!
