Contouring and Highlighting

Contouring and Highlighting

We can easily say that contouring and highlighting is one of the biggest  trends in makeup although contouring and highlighting is a part of a makeup application for a long time.

What is contouring and highlighting?

With  contouring and highlighting we want to bring back the 3D look of the face, to give more dept on the contoured areas and highlight the highest point of the face.

When you apply foundation on the skin it covers the blemishes and refreshes the face but at the same time it kinda wipes off the features and shapes. With  contouring we can give more dept and shape to the face also because we are shading the contoured areas will look optically sharper and smaller.

For contouring we are using a greyish – brown colour as we want to make it look the natural and real as possible. This colour can be 3 or 4 shades darker than our skin colour.

Highlighting is a process of enhancing the face areas where the light “hits the face”.  The highlighted area  is lighter and optically looks wider and bigger.

Learn How to contour

Tip of the day: if you don’t know where to contour your face, all you need to do is to check your face in a natural light in the mirror. The shadows on the face will show you where  you have to contour. Generally its the hairline on the forehead or the temples, eye socket, nose, under the cheekbones, jawline and chin. Don’t forget the contours are changing as the per the face shapes and they are never straight.

So, what are you waiting for? Our next batch of the Platinum Makeup Course is on Monday 30th May, 2022. Together, let’s explore the amazing world of makeup.

Dos and don’ts in your makeup routine

How does your makeup routine look like?

I believe all of us we have some different habits about makeup application.

Basically there are no rules in makeup. All you need is a clean makeup, stylish and well blended!

Lets start with the Dos:

1.Make sure you take care of your skin. This is the first DO!

Use a scrub monthly once or twice, face cleaning gel or foam, toner every day and moisturising cream.

2. Start your makeup on a clean and moisturised skin.

3. Always try the foundation on your face near to the jawline area to check the colour.

4.Apply the foundation in thin layers

5.Try to use thin layers if you use cream contours and highlights

6.Use Translucent powder instead of pressed powder

7.Use 3 shades lighter shadow on your brows than your brow colour

8.Use matte eye shadows for daytime look

9.Apply peach-orange tones on your cheeks giving you immediate fresh look

10. Glossy lips look more healthy than matte ones, don’t forget to apply a lipgloss for the nice finishing

Now lets see the DON’TS

1. Don’t over draw your natural lips.

2.Don’t apply blush to your cheeks without blending

hqdefault

3.Don’t forget to wash your makeup off at night

4.Don’t go crazy with drawn-in-eyebrows

5.Don’t be afraid of a little sparkle and glitter.

dd2

6.Don’t be extreme with your concealer shade.

7.Don’t wear clumpy mascara

8.Don’t get stuck in a rut with your makeup routine

maxresdefault

9.Dont be afraid to experiment with different colours

10.Dont panic if you made mistakes you can always work with mistakes and fix them but if not you will take off the makeup and start again. Makeup is not a plastic surgery you can always start to apply it again and again!

After the tips what and how to do the conclusion is

-Less is always more

-Keep your makeup simple

-The right foundation colour is one of the most important things in makeup

– Blend, blend and blend

-Always keep your makeup clean. No mascara smudges and dark patches under the eyes because of the dark eyeshadows

Practice makes perfect so don’t give up after the first or second fail! The makeup can always be better!

Its  very thin line between applying make up correctly and un correctly. Get it wrong and the whole look does not work! You look like a painted doll. Strobing

What is strobing, you ask? It’s a fun term for highlighting, basically. Forget everything you learned about contouring (it was hard to master, anyway). Extra highlighting will give you a dewy, shimmery, more youthful glow. But because “dewy” can turn into “sweaty” super-quick, here are a few tips to keep you on the right track.

  1. Prep your skin with a hydrating moisturizer. Strobing is all about getting the perfect glow, so you’ll need to replenish dull, dry skin with a good moisturizer first. If you have naturally oily skin, use one that’s oil-free.
  2. Use a highlighter shade that best matches your skin tone. To avoid the frosted ’90s look, make sure the highlighter you’re using complements your skin tone for a subtle sheen.
  3. Only use the highlighter in spots that catch light: on your cheekbones, along your temples, down the bridge of your nose, below your brow bone, in the corners of your eyes, and above your cupid’s bow. This will enhance your natural features. Don’t spread the product all over your face, or else your glow will turn into a greasy mess. If you have oily skin, skip areas like your forehead or chin, which have a little shine already.
  4. After you’ve applied the highlighter, blend it out with your fingers, a fan brush, or a damp makeup sponge. To avoid blobs of product and obvious makeup lines, make sure you blend any harsh edges of highlighter so it fades into the rest of your skin.

5. If you have oily skin, opt for matte bronzer, blush, or other facial     products, and only use a shimmery highlighter. To avoid looking like a disco ball, choose a matte formula for most of your makeup (primer, foundation, bronzer, powder). Avoid highlighting areas on your face that have breakouts — unless you want to spotlight your blemish.

Tip of the day:  make sure that your skin is prepared on a right way for strobing. Clean it properly and make sure that its moisturised.

Use face scrub monthly once or twice to refresh the skin and remove the dead skin. The strobing is all about illuminators and highlighters it will show every imperfection on the skin.

Are you wearing the right colour of the foundation?

The most common problem that all of us struggling from to find the right colour of the foundation we are wearing.

When  you go to the makeup store forget about trying the foundation on your hands. The reason is:

  1. is not the same colour like your face
  2. the skin on our face is more sensitive
  3. the skin on your face  is a different skin type than your hands so of course you have to find the matching foundation to your skin type.

The process of trying and finding the right colour is very simple. Pick up 3 colours which are very similar to your skin colour and try them on your face near to the jawline area. The colour what blends in completely to your skin and not visible that is your foundation colour.

Tip of the day: When applying foundation, apply it little by little build up your foundation. In this case you will get a perfect coverage and will look natural not caked up and a mask effect on a face.

Five-Ways-Of-Applying-Liquid-Foundation-1

Skin types

Lets talk about skin types

The first thing we need to do is to find out what is  our skin type.

  1. If your skin have a healthy glowing and  feels smooth then you are the lucky one who have a normal skin.

shutterstock_16309612 opt 50kb-croped

2. Matte, dry and peeling skin is a dry skin.

3.Shiny at the T zone (centre of the forehead and bridge of the nose) the rest of the face is dry this will be a combination skin.

beautiful-earth-skin-type-skincare-combination

4.Shiny sometimes with pimples and have a greasy touch is the oily skin

kak-pravilno-uxazhivat-za-zhirnoj-kozhej-lica

5.Your skin becomes red after every single touch even after washing your face with just water its a sensitive skin.

Now we know our skin type so we  can start with the skin care and choosing the right makeup products.

Don’t forget it is essential to take care of your skin, no perfect makeup without a beautiful skin you can buy the best makeup products but if your skin is not cleaned and moisturised your makeup will look dull.
