What products to use for contouring

This actually depends on your skin type and the blend-ability of the product you are using. It is pretty obvious that a concealer will be much more pigmented than a foundation which might make it a tad bit harder to blend.

For example, for someone with an oily skin type I would suggest that he/she uses a cream concealer 2 shades darker to contour and one that is 2 shades lighter to highlight. This needs to be set with a translucent powder to prevent it from slipping and sliding on your face.

You don’t need to stick with a single product. You could use a highlighting concealer and a contouring foundation. It’s all up to what products you have access to! Infact, the brushes you use might actually make or break your highlighting-contouring routine, so keep that in mind too.

It slims your face and creates definition and illumination to create a sleek, sculpted look.

Powder, cream or liquid

Whoever said choice was a good thing probably wasn’t a woman trying to find the right foundation. Years ago we just grabbed a bottle of beige cream and called it good, but now we have so many options to choose from, including liquids, powders, sticks, pressed powders, and of course the new mineral powders. How are we ever to pick the right one?

We’ve collected a bit of information here to help narrow it down for you. As a basic rule: oily skin types should go for more powder and matte formulas, whereas normal to dry can use more oil-based options. If your skin is dry and dehydrated liquids works the best. Here are the foundations, and when it’s best to use each one.

Liquid: The most popular option, liquids have been around for a long time and continue to be favorites because they’re so flexible and natural-looking. Oil-based formulas are best for dry to normal skin, and water-based formulas are better for those with oily skin. Liquids also work well in color combinations, if you’re into making your own shades by mixing two or more colors. Be careful of the long-wearing, smudgeproof versions. Though they may stay on longer, they typically have waxy and oily ingredients that can cause skin irritation or breakouts. (In humid conditions, though, they can be lifesavers.) Oil-free options or matte finish brands are best for those with oily or acne-prone skin. Ultra-mattes can also be good for oily types, but tend to leave the skin dry and taut.

Cream: Cream foundation is a good choice for those with dry or mature skin. It provides medium to heavy coverage, and helps skin look soft and smooth.

Sticks: These foundations come in solid form and have more of a drying effect, which may make them best for those with oily skin. They are also good for covering scars and flaws, and for creating more coverage. These are often used in photography sessions, but for everyday use, you may find them too heavy and thick-feeling.

Powder: Similar to pressed powder, loose-powder foundations help control shine. However, they can be too drying. All but the most oily skin types may want to use these for touch-ups only. They also work well when you’re in a hurry, and can be great options for young girls just starting out on makeup as they’re light and easy to apply.

Tip of the day: use translucent powder to set your foundation to get a beautiful and matte finish.

Foundation application techniques

Master the foundation application and be your own makeup artist.

Brush? Sponge? Fingers? what works the best for you?

When its about foundation we are always sceptical what is the best way to apply it.

Well it depends what is the type of your foundation and what works the best for you. You have one main goal to achieve a flawless skin.

Use your fingers if you are not happy with the brush strokes or the sponge.

2.Apply your foundation with a foundation brush if you want a strong coverage.

3. Use a buffing brush if you like to keep your foundation dewy

4.Use latex sponge and dab the foundation in your skin if you are using cream textures.

5. Apply the foundation with a foundation brush and use your beauty blender for a fully blended look. Note the beauty blender is for blending the foundation not for application!

6.For a dewy skin apply water spray on your skin and while is wet start with a foundation.

7. The most important doesn’t matter what is your foundation texture (cream, liquid or stick) always apply it in thin layers.

Tip of the day: for a perfect and flawless skin wet your latex sponge and apply your foundation on the face. In this way your foundation will blend in more and will stick more to the skin.

The magical TV Stick foundation

The absolutely favourite full coverage foundation is the Kryolan TV Paint Stick not only makeup artists but anyone loves it who wants a flawless skin just in few strokes.

As a texture is dry and giving a semi matte finish. Perfect for combination skin and effectively reduces the shiny on the oily skin also.

Mostly used in theatre, TV, bridal makeup but can be used for any occasion.

No primer required before the TV Stick. The foundation will stay for more than 12 hours on our skin with just applying the TV stick on a plain skin. What is really important to make sure that the skin is dry (not over moisturised and wet because of the moisturiser or primer). In this case the foundation will stick to the skin and in 40 minutes will absorb.

Because its full coverage we can use it for creating drag makeup and its perfect in blocking out the eyebrows also.

The application can be with a foundation brush and the latex sponge also.

Flawless skin and full coverage with cream foundations

We all know our favourite liquid foundations which are giving a light to medium coverage.

But what should we do if we are struggling from skin problems, dark circles under the eyes, scars on the face ?

The liquid foundations coverage is not strong enough.

This is the moment when we will choose a cream foundation to cover and correct all these skin problems and correct the skin types.

We will talk about the Kryolan Cream foundations.

It is for makeup artists but if you know exactly how to use the products you can easily use them on a daily basis.

Lets do a quick and useful review of our amazing foundations:

Dubai Zombie challenge

I attended the three days Dubai zombie challenge that took place in wonderland, Dubai from 7^th till 9^th of April 2016

The event was organised and supervised by the famous French Le Manoir de Paris, they are specialised in makeup and special effects.

There were 2 amazing ladies Laura and Dalila they were responsible for the clients that wants to change into zombies, they took good care of them with smiles and love from the entrance till the makeup room, and they also were supervising the whole event.

Then another French person to train the new zombies, in addition to two more men that were responsible for all the details of the game from maintenance to the safety of the clients, They were very well organised and they planned everything that they even had first aid kit to help the clients.

First day i went before we start we had a meeting with the two professional French makeup artists Emilia and Camilla we were seven makeup artists in addition to them, by the second day we ended up in only 5 persons, they divide us as follows

One group for the latex
One group for the Air brush
One group for coloring details
One group for the final touch of clothes and hair and rest of the body
Camilla and Emilia took over the Air brush details and were also overlooking all the groups to make sure that we were on the right track

They also decide that we rotate every day so that we all get to learn everything in the process, also during the breaks they encouraged us to practice on our own bodies to learn more all the tricks.

They were both very supportive and helpful they treated us as a team, they fluded us with all the experience and data needed to make sure that we become experts in such a short time, doing all the tricks and moves live really made a difference with us.

They were answering all the questions asked, it was really not only an event it was like a professional special effects course and workshop at the same time.

We had a lot of fun with all of them we even had the chance to try the game itself .

I am really happy I was chosen to attend this event i learned totally new things in a very interesting filed of makeup which is the special effects, I want to thank Livia in the first place she is the one who recommended me to the group of the event, thanks for the support Lipstick Makeup institute.

Le Manoir de Paris presents The Dubai Zombie Challenge

Our students of, ” The Lipstick Make Up Institute ” have the great opportunity, have been chosen to be participate in an amazing event of Le Manoir de Paris which brought its popular Zombie Challenge event to Dubai, Spring 2016. This interactive event makes participants feel like they are the star of their own scary movie. Hollywood quality decor, makeup, costumes and music create an unforgettable ambiance. Physical challenges will intensify the experience as “Survivors” try to escape the zombie invasion.

The skills that our students obtained during this process uses special effects makeup is priceless.

The correct foundation application

Brush? Sponge? Beauty blender or fingers?

What is the right way? Well it depends what is the texture of your foundation.

If its liquid the best is to apply with a foundation brush or buffing or kabuki brush. This way the foundation layer will be thin and invisible on your skin but the same time a nice coverage. The Beauty blender is for blending the foundation after the brush application.

Cream foundations especially if we are using Kryolan Supracolor, Dermacolor or TV Stick the best to apply with wet latex sponge by dabbing in the skin not dragging around the foundation.

Tip of the day: If you have a dry skin and wondering how to achieve dewy and healthy glowing skin here is our tip for you. Before applying the liquid foundation spray your face with a water spray or rose water.

Do this between every single step. The rose water will give you a moisturised and dewy look.

Are you wearing the right colour of the foundation?

The most common problem that all of us struggling from to find the right colour of the foundation we are wearing.

When you go to the makeup store forget about trying the foundation on your hands. The reason is:

is not the same colour like your face
the skin on our face is more sensitive
the skin on your face is a different skin type than your hands so of course you have to find the matching foundation to your skin type.

The process of trying and finding the right colour is very simple. Pick up 3 colours which are very similar to your skin colour and try them on your face near to the jawline area. The colour what blends in completely to your skin and not visible that is your foundation colour.

Tip of the day: When applying foundation, apply it little by little build up your foundation. In this case you will get a perfect coverage and will look natural not caked up and a mask effect on a face.
